PES PTA Meeting

Meeting began at 6:32pm

November regular meeting and budget meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.

President Report: Chris reported that PTA needs to form a temporary committee to review and possibly revise the bylaws. Jen will send out the current bylaws for review by board members and Emilie who agreed to take part in the temporary committee. Chris will send out an email in regards to a meeting date and time for a discussion about the bylaws. It was reported that two board positions are needing to be filled for a term of two years each. We will need to elect a new VP and secretary. Brief discussion was held about the commitment and role of the secretary. Emilie Ayoub expressed some interest in possibly taking over the secretary role. Further discussion and nominations and elections will be held at the April meeting.

Treasurer Report: Attached to the minutes was the current budget report showing a net profit of approximately $5,200 from the Sweetheart Supper. Classroom requests are beginning to come in from teachers for supplies/materials.

VP Report: Les had no report

Secretary Report: Jen had nothing to report

Principal Report: Kandi reported that Parent/Teacher conferences went well and the staff greatly appreciated the catered Qdoba dinner, and that it fed everyone for two days. Dr. Seuss came for a visit for Read-Aloud day and all kids enjoyed that. Adian Clements served as principal for a day, won from the SHS silent auction and had a great time. The school continues emergency drills to maintain a safe environment. TCAP starts on the 11th for 3-5th grades and CMAS testing for 4th and 5th will be on April 21,22,23. A date for the Volunteer Appreciation breakfast has been set for April 9th from 7:30-8:30am. A read-a-thon has been launched to raise funds to purchase a PA system for the school. It will end on March 24th with the hopes of raising enough for this important purchase.

Vital Report: Please log all volunteer hours either online through the VITAL website, the kiosk in the office, or email Meghan Roberts at with your hours and she will update it for you.

Passive fundraisers: Chipotle Family Fun Night will be held Wednesday March 19th from 4-7pm. We will have another family fun night in May. Jen is looking into an ARC fill the truck donation/fundraising event and will provide more info at the next meeting. Lisa Downer proposed to the group that we utilize the King Soopers Rewards card program as a passive fundraiser for our PTA. A motion was made and approved to purchase $250 in gift cards to have families purchase and reload to earn our PTA 5% from monies put onto the card. Lisa will create a document will all important info about the program to be communicated to parents. She will have the cards available for purchase at the spirit wear table and you may contact her for purchase as well.

Spirit-wear: It was decided to start pumping up Spirit Fridays and Lisa Downer has worked with Sheri and will be at the school manning a table after school from 3:15-4:15pm the week before spring break selling spirit wear that parents and students can purchase. She will also be there the first Wednesday of every month and at Museum Night in May. She will also have King Soopers cards and information available for purchase.

Sweetheart Supper: All auction items have been paid for and $5200 was netted.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Jen has emailed Andrea Smith at IBMC, but has yet to hear back. She will look into other options for massages for teachers. Chipotle will donate food and Kayla will set it up for Tuesday. Emilie Ayoub will contact Chick-fil-a, Mimi’s and Nordy’s to find out about other food donations. There are 5 items left over from the SHS that came in after the deadline, so we will attempt to collect other donations and hold a raffle of staff to receive these gifts. We will finalize plans and ideas at the next meeting.
