Dear Parent/Carer

As part of your child’s ‘Careers, Education, Information Advice and Guidance’ (CEIAG) programme we will be running a Mock Interview Day on Thursday 6 July 2017. This will take place at West Lancashire College in Skelmersdale and the pupils will be interviewed by a range of local employers. The interviews will be in a formal setting so pupils should dress appropriately, as if they were attending a job interview. If pupils are undertaking engineering, PE or Construction sessions they should bring a change of clothes with them.

Pupils must arrive at the college for 9.00am and will be finished by approximately 1.00pm. They will be expected to make their own way to and from West Lancashire College and are not expected in school afterwards. The pupils will receive a written interview evaluation form and awards/certificates will be presented to pupils who perform the best on the day.

Pupils will be divided into three groups and will take part in various activities throughout the morning. These will include a session on ‘Career Coach’ software and production of an online CV, an information session on presentation for interview and a mock interview.

We are aiming to make the process as realistic and professional as possible. We will provide pupils with some possible questions that they may be asked on the day so that they can prepare for the interview. Please encourage your child to prepare for the process as if it were a real job interview.

This is a compulsory part of your son/daughter’s CEIAG Programme. Pupils who fail to attend the interview will be marked as unauthorised absence in the register and you will be asked to explain this in writing as you would do for any other absence.
