SECTION 2.DATA ANALYSIS, PROTOTYPE DESCRIPTION AND PROTOTYPE EVALUATION

2.1 DATA ANALYSIS - In this section discuss[3.5 page max: note section 2.1.4 should be at least 2 pages]
2.1.1 Study Purpose: What was the purpose of your first study (i.e., what was the is the goal of the study, why you did the study)
2.1.2 Short Description of Study: what was the first study and why was this a suitable study for your research question, what data you collected
2.1.3 Analysis Process: what was the process you took in analyzing your data collected
2.1.4 Data Analysis/Results: what did you find and how does it answer your research question/s
2.1.5 Guidelines/Suggestions: based on your findings what are the main guidelines and suggestions you have to design your system.
2.1.1 Purpose
2.1.2. Study Description
2.1.3 Analysis Process
2.1.4 Data Analysis/Results
2.1.5 Guidelines and Suggestions
2.2 Prototype Description - In this section discuss[1.5 page max]
2.2.1 Prototype Description: describe (use imagesas well) how your prototype functions and how meets your guidelines and suggestions from the previous section.
2.2.1 Prototype Description
You need to include a detailed prototype description. The importance of your prototype should be motivated by your results from your first study. You need to describe the features and include why they are important. Use screen shots. If you are comparing it to an existing application, then you need to also show (through screen shots) the comparison of features.
2.3 Evaluation of Prototype – In this section[1.5 page max, not including attachments]
2.3.1 Research Question/Hypothesis: state the hypotheses or the research questions (these may be the same as Milestone 1b or you may have slightly changed them from the results of your first study)
2.3.2 Study details: where the study will be conducted (e.g., the Computer Science building, the atrium in the Computer Science building), the equipment that will be used (e.g., laptop, the web, Smartphone), describe what the participants will be asked to do (e.g., provide all the tasks (e.g., scenarios), the type of questions), how much time you expect the study to take, and the process of your study
2.3.3 Participants: indicate how many participants will evaluate your prototype (4-5)
2.3.4 Data Details: describe how you plan to gather your data (e.g., counts, time, study instruments), what data will be recorded, and what research instruments will beused (attach copies, e.g., study script, questionnaires, interview questions, observation script)
2.3.1 Research Questions/Hypothesis
Add research questions/hypothesis
2.3.2 Study Details
Use the following sub-headings to make this section clearer:
Location, Equipment and Study Instruments
Describe where the study will be located, equipment used and briefly introduce how many questionnaires you will have and//or interviews.
Study Process
This is what the participant will do (e.g., the tasks/scenarios, questionnaires, inteviews, etc.)
Study Tasks
Describe the tasks (they must be final tasks), provide the task scenarios and use cases. Remember to include any task scenarios (as will be seen by the end users). Also, if you are doing similar tasks between devices if you are comparing your prototype to an existing application, you need to explain how they are similar (e.g., the same number of steps, just a different video to search for…). You also need to include the time for each task and have a cut off point when you will ask the participant to stop working on the task.
Roles of Researchers
Expected Time to do the study
Give a break down of expected time to the do the tasks and an overall study time.
2.3.3 Participants
Number and who you expect they will be (students
2.3.4 Data Details
Describe the data that you are planning on collecting which should be reflected in the research questions/objective (e.g., efficiency, preference, effectiveness) and how you plan to collect that specific data (e.g., a stopwatch, questionnaires, interviews, task completion, count of steps or errors). Also, indicate if you are collecting background information to better identity the participants.
You also need to make sure that explain how you plan to record that data collected. For example, all the questionnaires will be done on paper and for the interviews researchers will take notes.
