Dallas LGBT Taskforce celebrates Pride Month

Dallas – The Dallas Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Task Force, chaired by Councilmember Adam Medrano, District 2, has announced a number of activities for National Pride Month.

·  Wednesday June 10, noon: Councilmember Medrano will present a proclamation to the Task Force signed by Mayor Rawlings. The event will be in the City Hall Flag Room, 6EN.

The Dallas Public Library will also host a series of events and activities to celebrate LGBT Pride Month. These activities include:

·  Wednesday June 10, 6 p.m. - LGBT Rainbow Book Club and Discussion
North Oak Cliff Branch Library
Join us for a discussion of favorite LGBT books. Please bring your favorite LGBT-themed book with you. Refreshments provided

·  Saturday June 26: Children’s Rainbow Crafts and Movie: 1 to 5 p.m.
The Children’s Center at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library invites children and families to make fun rainbow crafts and relax with a family-friendly movie.Drop-in crafts start at 1 and the movie will be shown at 2 p.m.

Follow @DallasLibrary on Twitter for a new book recommendation every day this month.We’ll be tweeting a title a day in honor of the American Library Association’s GLBT Book Month, a nationwide celebration of the authors and writings that reflect the lives and experiences of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

In addition, the following events will be taking place throughout the City of Dallas to celebrate Pride Month.

Guest are asked to indicate that they are attending for LGBT Day to receive the reduced admission from $15 to $9.

·  June 20 & 21: Juneteenth Pool Party and Juneteenth Unity BBQ, sponsored by UBEDallas.org in collaboration with Dallas Southern Pride
