Venetian Autumn Chess Festival 2012

88 chessplayers competed in three tournaments during “Autunno Scacchistico Veneziano”, organised together, from October November 1 to November 4, by “Esteban Canal Chess Club” and by “Carlo Salvioli Chess Club” of Venice.
The participation to the festival was in part blocked by a strong high tide (in Italian “acqua alta”) that covered the town the First of November.
The master Tournament (Rating > 2000) with 20 players, was won with 5 points on 6 games by the Italian Pierluigi Basso, who won in the first round with IM Kenny Solomon from South Africa and in the last round by time with FM Xia Jie in a completely lost position. The Open A Tournament (41 players with rating between 1700 and 2000) was won with 5 points on 6 games by FIDE International Arbiter Renzo Renier, ex aequo with Martino Aprile from Chioggia. The Open B Tournament (27 players with rating till 1700) was won by Giovanni Dalla Palma from Montebelluna with 5.5 points on 6 games.
