7.1.2 Policy and Procedure for Clinical Supervision

Applicability: Licensed Clinical Staff

Policy: All staff providing direct clinical services at YCS (that is, assessment, and on-going therapeutic counseling) must be licensed by the appropriate licensing board (see below), and ensure that copies of their license, and subsequent renewals, are contained in their personnel file.

Licensed staff that have not yet completed the requirements for, and/or have not yet obtained, a clinical supervisory license (LCSW, LPC, and LMFT.) shall be supervised in a manner and in accordance with their appropriate Licensing Board, that is, the Board of Social Work and the Board of Marriage and Family Therapyand per YCS protocol.

Best practices at YCS require that all LCSWs, LPCs, and LMFTs attend monthly peer review and quarterly training.

Procedure:

1. All LSWs and LACs engaging in clinical practice at YCS shall have regular and on-going clinical supervisionper regional supervision protocols (Attachments A and B). Supervision should be documented and signed by the supervisor and supervisee.

2. In addition to individual, group supervision, as appropriate, is encouraged, and shall occur, at a minimum, quarterly in each region.

3. The Regional Assistant Vice Presidents of Clinical Services (this position consists of an LCSW with three years LCSW experience and the completion of post-graduate continuing education requirements) will provide supervision in their respective Northern and Southern Region Programs. Supervision content may include discussion of clinical topic presentations, case discussions, documentation reviews and client initiatives.

4. In addition to Regional Clinical Supervision, clinical supervision may be rendered by another LCSW or LPC YCS employee, who has completed the requisite (Licensing Board) continuing education and/or post-graduate course-work related to supervision.

5. Licensed staff are as follows:

a)Licensed Social Worker (LSW.)

b)Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

c)Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)

d)Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

e)Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

f)Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)

g)Physician (MD or DO)

h)Psychologist (PsyD, PhD)

6. The agencywill notallow any non licensedstaff person(s) to provide clinical services.
