Explanation

For the purposes of this class, you will be creating a sample student assessment portfolio. You will be creating this portfolio from the perspective of a student (and the teacher for evaluation purposes).

For this assignment, you will be saving everything on the student lab drive for the computer you are using. To do this, you will log-in as a student user on the computer, use the S: / drive, and save into the lab number for the computer you are using.

Preparing to Build your Portfolio

Step One:Identify the purpose of the portfolio.

Step Two:Determine what artifacts will be included in the portfolio and what standard(s) they demonstrate an understanding of.

For this assignment, choose a Word document, an image, and a web link that can be included in the PowerPoint.

Step Three:Create a short word document that represents an assignment your students might create. It should demonstrate an understanding of the standard(s) selected.

Step Four:Locate an image on the internet that is related to your portfolio. Save the image into the student folder (lab) on the computer you are using.

Step Five:Create a “storyboard” illustrating how your PowerPoint portfolio will be organized.

Building your Portfolio in PowerPoint

Part A:Open PowerPoint and select the template you wish to work with

Part B:Create a title slide with your name and information

Part C:Create a slide that shows the standard(s)/goal(s) to be met with each artifact.

Part D:Create a Table of Contents slide. The slide should contain information for three artifacts, student reflection, and teacher evaluation.

Part E:For each artifact, there should be three slides (artifact, reflection, and evaluation). For the Student Reflection slide, act as if you are the student. For the Teacher Evaluation slide, act as if you are the teacher, and write an evaluation of the student.

Part F:Create links to your artifacts, websites and documents from your Table of Contents slide.

To do this, follow these simple steps:

1.Highlight the text or object you with to use as a link.

2.In the tool bar, select the Slide Show option. From that menu, select Action Settings.

3.In the Action Settings tool, select the second option, Hyperlink to and from the drop down menu, pick the item you want to link to. It can be a slide, a document, or a website.

4.Create additional links and buttons as necessary.
