CEO Diary Update w/c 17th October 2016
Dear Member
CEO update from last week:-
- We are currently working on a press release on nurse shortages and the impact – this was an action from the Five Nations Care Forum
- International nurse recruitment meeting was well attended and 3 recruitment agents provided presentations on what they could deliver. The members at the meeting have chosen to proceed discussions with Rutledge Recruitment and further information on how that will progress will issue in due course.
- Charlotte McArdle – I am following up with my request that the department share their list of inactive nurses so that we can mail shot them to seek return to work in care homes.
- Safeguarding Discussion Forum – This event was very worthwhile and generated a lot of discussion and agreed follow up actions. We had a panel for questions including safeguarding reps Joyce Mckee and Trusts, Kathy Fodey and another RQIA inspector, NISCC and PSNI. The main actions are the need for training on the new guidelines ( joint with Trusts) better understanding and communication across all stakeholders – meetings of the panel and ihcp to continue.
- My Home Life – I attended the last meeting of the current cohort of MHL participants to present their certificates – congratulations to all those on completion of their development programme
This week :-
- Ihcp directors are meeting Michael Williamson ASM about the data gathering for the sector to inform our submission to the Board regarding the annual tariff review

COMMUNICATION RECEIVED – listed below
1.Dear Colleagues,
HSC Change Day #fabhsc16 Please Join in on the 19 October 2016 – We are Celebrating and Improving
The NHS and HSC Change Day last year on 11 March was a great success with colleagues in the HSC hosting over 35 events and making 1000s of tweets and pledges. Nearly all HSC organisations got involved. This year Change Day in England is being run by the Academy of Fabulous Stuff on the 19 October: you know Change Day is a grassroots initiative so we have no specific budgethowever, a few enthusiasts from last year wanted to make sure we in the HSC tapped into this important social movement again. The website has been updated some information and material and we have attached the 2016 flyer and photograph template on the theme ofCelebrating Improving.
What we want you to do! Firstly have a look at the flyer attached and share it with everyone you know! Then, on or before the 19 October, we wantpeople to tweet or facebook about what they are doing to improve services and patient care – please use the #fabhsc16 hashtag if you can to allow us to record all the information. You can look on twitter already #fabhsc16 to get some examples from colleagues. If people are comfortable, a photo would be fabulous. If you are running an event on the 19 October to mark the day please let now, and we will record and promote it. To support you there are more materials on the website or please just get in touch. With your help we can be trending on Twitter again!
What we will do! After the 19th we will pull together a report highlighting all the great things that people are doing to encourage others to get involved in the celebrating and improving our services.
So please, we need you help - promote HSC Change Day in your own organisation and across your networks. Many thanks everyone for your involvement and for sharing this with colleagues and networks!!!!
The change day team -Angela, Adam, Heather, Corrina, Fiona, Emma, Gavin, Kevin, Steven and Paula
