LUNCH DUES
There are still several students who have an unpaid balance for lunch dues from August - Oct. 5th. Although our school has been certified to receive lunch at no cost, there are still incurred charges for students with paid/reduced lunch cost for the dates mentioned above. It is important that you pay your child’s balance. We are accepting payments in the front office. You may pay your exact amount in cash, or a check payable to KIPP Heartwood Academy to the front office. If you have any questions in regards to your amount due, please speak to Ms. Betancourt at (408) 926-5477.
Book Lover’s Masquerade Ball
Our annual Book Lover’s Ball will take place on Friday, Oct. 30th from 2:00-4:00pm. The Ball will mark the end of Literacy month and students will be able to dress as their favorite book character! We are encouraging all staff and students to come dressed up this day. Students who are participating should come dressed as a book character and have their school uniform separately in a bag. Students who choose to not dress up need to be in full uniform. Please note that students who are on TTR at this date will NOT be able to participate. There will be many prizes, awards given out to recognize Literacy Month winners. Also, refreshments and other goodies will be sold during the dance.
Mandatory 8th Grade KIPP 101 Sessions– SATURDAY, Oct. 31st
Saturday, Oct. 31st we will be hosting 8th grade parent KIPP 101 Sessions. You will receive an RSVP form that will need to be returned. This is a mandatory school event and for 8th grade parents only. 8th grade parents will be attending different sessions and learning about how they can best support their child in school this year. Workshops will be based on grade levels. Again, this is a mandatory event and all 8th grade parents are expected to attend. See you all there!
Literacy Month Updates
This week students continue to push themselves to make it to 1,000,000 words read. Our students are working hard to make sure they read the books at their level, take and pass AR quizzes in order to get credit for the books and words read! Progress Reports
We will be sending home progress reports the first week of November. The purpose of progress reports is to communicate to parents their child’s progress thus far in the year. Please make sure to review reports with your child in order to get a better understanding of their strengths and areas for improvement. Teachers will be setting up conferences with students and parents as needed in November.

Cuenta de Almuerzos
Todavía hay varios estudiantes con cuentas de almuerzo sin pago para los meses de agosto - 5 de octubre. Aunque nuestra escuela ha recibido lonche gratuito para todos, todavía se tiene que pagar el monto que fue incurrida durante las fechas mencionadas. Es importante que usted pague la cantidad debida. Estamos aceptando pagos en efectivo, con la cantidad exacta o cheque a nombre de KIPP Heartwood Academy. Por favor mande el pago con su hijo/a o pase a la oficina para pagar su cuenta. Si tiene alguna pregunta, por favor llame a la oficina con Ms. Betancourt al (408) 926-5477.
Baile de Book Lover’s
El baile anual de Book Lovers tomara lugar el, viernes, 30 de octubre de 2:00-4:00pm. El baile marcara el final del mes de literatura y nuestros estudiantes podrán venir vestidos como personajes de libros para celebrar. Estamos pidiendo que todos los maestros y estudiantes vengan vestidos este día. Los estudiantes que si estarán participando, tendrá que traer su uniforme en una bolsa. Si su hijo/a no quiere participar en el vestuario, debe venir a la escuela en uniforme completo. Por favor tome nota que si su hijo/a esta en TTR en esta fecha, él/ella NO podrá participar. Habrá premios, y reconocimientos este día. También habrá comida de venta durante el baile y los boletos para comprar comida y actividades se venderán la próxima semana y el día del baile.
URGENTE - Mandatorio - Sesión de KIPP 101 para 8to Grado– SABADO, 31 de Oct.
El sábado, 31 de octubre habrá la sesión mandatorio para todos los padres de 8to grado. Usted recibirá una forma de RSVP que se debe llenar y entregar. Los padres estarán asistiendo diferentes sesiones en los cuales aprenderán como apoyar a su hijo/a. Los talleres son específicos para cada grado. De nuevo, es un evento mandatorio para todos los padres de 8to nivel. ¡Esperamos verlos aquí!
Actualizaciones del Mes de Literatura
Esta semana los estudiantes siguen leyendo para poder llegar a 1,000,000 de palabras leídas. Nuestros estudiantes están esforzándose en leer libros a su nivel y lograr sus metas propias de las pruebas AR. Desde la última semana, aquí están los resultados en palabras leídas por colegios:

Reportes de Progreso
Estaremos mandando el reporte de progreso a casa en la primera semana de noviembre. El propósito de estos reportes es para comunicarles a los padres el progreso académico de su hijo/a actual en el año. No son las calificaciones finales del semestre. Por favor revise los reportes con su hijo/a para tener mejor entendimiento de cómo van en el año hasta el momento y que fortalezas han demostrados y que necesitan mejorar. Los maestros tendrán conferencias con los estudiantes y familias si es necesario en el mes de noviembre.
