Alnwick District Council Members Allowances

The following table shows the allowances paid to Alnwick District Councillors during the financial year 1st April 2005 - 31st March 2006.

During this year, each councillor received a basic allowance for general duties. Those councillors who hold particular positions within the authority such as Chairmen of Committees, receive a Special Responsibility Allowance.

The differing travel expenses are influenced by appointments on outside bodies and the amount of travelling required to get to these meetings, as well as council meetings.

The number of meetings attended reflects only main committee and council meetings. Councillor’s attendance at meetings of sub-committees, working parties and external bodies are not recorded. The number of committees members attended varies dependent on appointments

The figures for basic and special responsibility allowances are subject to deduction of tax and NI contributions.
