Sherpa Adventure Gear & BMC Autumn Lecture Series
‘Do you want Kenton Cool and Neil Gresham at your club?’
Working in partnership with Sherpa Adventure Gear we are able to offer some lucky BMC clubs the opportunity to have Neil Gresham, Kenton Cool or one of the other Sherpa athletes coming along to your club. You may even get more than one…..
So, what’s the deal?
The Sherpa Athletes have blocked out 29October – 8 November 2014 to be available to BMC affiliated clubs to deliver a lecture and / or masterclasses to members of their club and the local mountaineering community. And they’re available at no cost to the clubs! Any BMC affiliated club is able to apply to host one of the events, to raise money to help new members within their club and to raise money towards the Paldorje Education Fund run by Sherpa Adventure Gear.
The key points of the offer are…
- One, or more, of the Sherpa Athletes will be available for several BMC clubs on a date between 29 October and 8 November to either deliver an evening lecture, some masterclass sessions at a climbing wall, or both.
- The masterclasses wouldusually be aimed at climbers who are climbing in the 5+ to 7a range indoors and would look at various climbing techniques and movement skills. There is some flexibility within this though if a club wishes to offer something slightly different. There tends to be 8-10 people per session which will last 1-1½ hours with two sessions fitted in to an afternoon.
- The lecture will take place in an evening, will need to be open to a wider audience than just the host club and will include time for questions, photos etc.
- The club hosting the event will charge people to attend the master classes and the lecture
- The club hosting the event will be able to choose a local venue to host theirevent; however the venue must be able to seat a minimum of 100 people (preferably more) comfortably
- The club hosting the event will need to arrange with their local climbing wall for hosting the masterclasses
- Sherpa Adventure Gear will take £1 from each ticket sold to go directly into their charity(Paldorje Education Fund)
- The remainder of the money will be available for the club to put towards supporting new members within their club
- The BMC and Sherpa Adventure Gear will provide prizes for a raffle on the night, again the profits from ticket sales will be split between the club and the Paldorje Education Fund
- The BMC and Sherpa Adventure will advertise the event through their channels to widen interest and increase attendance at the event. The hosting club will be responsible for local promotion. Promotional literature will be provided.
- The host club will manage ticket sales for their lecture and masterclasses
