Contract on Podravka's donation to Severely Ill Persons Support Fund

Podravka and PPDIV Union of Podravka (Union of employees in agriculture, food, tobacco and water management industry) as the founder of the Severely Ill Persons Support Fund have signed a donation contract. Compliant to this Contract, Podravka will donate to the Fund HRK 50,000.00 for the year 2009, intended for providing aid in treatment and procurement of medicines for severely ill persons. The Contract was signed by the Management Board President Zdravko Šestak and Ksenija Horvat, head commissioner for PPDIV Union Podravka.

- We are exceptionally pleased that we can provide help to those who need it the most. It is extremely commendable that there is such a Fund within Podravka, and its activities put the company among rare ones that have such a fund. This is a very important potential that we have, and it is supported by the fact that we have a full time employee taking care of the transparent operations of this Fund – said Management Board President Zdravko Šestak.

- We would like to thank Podravka on this donation, because at the time the Fund was started, just as a reminder, the company donated us a million kunas. The funds enabled us to save many lives and to provide help at moments that were crucial for many people – pointed out main commissioner for PPDIV Podravka Ksenija Horvat.

Severely Ill Persons Support Fund was founded in 1994 by the PPDIV Union, branch office Podravka, and today it holds more than 5100 active members. The fund is a charitable foundation with the task to provide aid for severely ill persons, members of the Fund, in:

  • purchasing and procurement of medicines not subvened by the HZZO (Croatian Health Insurance Institute), or they are subvened under certain circumstances,
  • paying expenses for complex and expensive surgeries and medicines that HZZO does not subvene to its insurance holders,
  • procurement and purchase of orthopoedic, hearing aids, ophtalmic and other aids from those who subvene such funds to their insurance holders for such purposes.

The Fund was firstly founded to provide help for workers of the entire Podravka Group. But soon after it was founded, its operation was expanded, and today its members, and therefore its users can be the citizens of the Koprivnica-Križevci county. Children of the Fund members are also entitled to this aid until age 18. The lowest amount of aid provided can be HRK 2,500.00, and maximum amount per year can be HRK 50,000.00. Money into the Fund can be paid also by persons who are not Podravka employees.
