Cats Bi-Weekly Letter

November 3, 2008

Dear Cats Parents

To start off Cathy and I (Yvette) want to say thank you for all the parents that came out for classroom meeting on last Thursday night, the meeting was very powerful to see every one coming together to analyzing the work that we do with the children. I was really pleased to hear all the parents’ ideas on the presentation we showed that night. I could see the enthusiasm that all the parents had when they talked about the children.

Botanical Gardens

The Botanical Gardens was a great experience for the children and the teachers to have seen such creativity and imagination throughout the gardens. Also to support our school in the work we do with the children. Thanks to all the parents who went and helped drive a small group.

Happenings in classroom

Cats now are going to focus more on working in small groups with Kelly in the atelier on colors (mixing, painting, and feeling ect.), also work in the classroom exploring with paint, and working in small groups exploring the school and the community. Our goal is to work closely on build knowledge around colors and provoke provocation throughout the classroom.

Clay work

Clay work will be going on around colors and the children’s interests. We still have cooking and taking care of the dolls going on in dramatic play, exploring with the light table, using our imagination with the cars and animal etc, etc. Please stay tune for more of Cats adventures. We will have more to come.

Lunch

Cathy and I (Yvette) have some concerns about lunches. GPCP does not provide food service. Therefore, parents are required to prepare and send lunch for their child. Bright from the start guidelines requires that children have a nutritious lunch. In addition, State regulations require that lunches include milk or acceptable milk substitute (soy or rice milk) for their child to drink every single day. Please note that yogurt is not considered a milk replacement. (If your child does not drink milk, you could put in a milk box in your child lunch. Then write a note telling us not to open the milk). In the lunches you need to have a meat, a fruit, bread, diary, and a vegetable. We can be fine for what’s not in your child’s lunch boxes. Please help us not let this happen to our school.
