Each person through positive learning experiences will be stimulated to achieve his/her full potential, face life confidently, find fulfilment and be respectful in an ever-changing world.

First Confessions: First Confessions for our children making their First Communion is on in the Sacred Heart church tonight at 7pm.

Scoil Mhuire through to the ALL-IRELAND Féile Drámaíocht:We are delighted and very proud of our senior pupils who are representing Connacht and through to the All-Ireland final in Irish Drama (Féile Drámaíochta) having beaten competition from other schools in the heart of the Gaeltacht (Indreabhán, Co. Galway). This is a fantastic achievement for our school where Irish is our 2nd language. A sincere thank you to Lorraine Connaughton, the girls’ class teacher and our other 5th/6th class teachers – Kate Crehan and Caroline Dolan whose classes also participated in the Féile Drámaíochtato a very high standard (as noted by the adjudicator). Maith sibh!

Engineers Week: I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents who organised activities for us during Engineers Week last month (9 – 15th February), in particular Niall Geraghty, Padraig and Jane Gubbins and John Killeen (uncle to Eadaoin Killeen). A golden moment for me was when I saw a class of children very happily making structures/buildings out of spaghetti and marshmallows.

EASTER PARADE (20th April): Please read the letter sent out to you today from the Parents Association. It would be great to have our school represented in the parade but WE NEED YOUR HELP. We are asking you to commit to a couple of hours over the next three - four weeks to help us get ready with costumes/floats for this event. This could be a wonderful opportunity for you to meet other parents in an enjoyable setting. A sincere thank you to all our parents (in particular the parents association) who have supported, and continue to support events organised by the school. Thank you to the Deputy Principal: Patricia Morris for organising a range of activities over the course of the year to encourage parents to meet other parents in our school community.

I am appealing to all our families in particular families from other countries who have chosen to live in Roscommon to help us. In Ireland our schools depend very much on the good will of our parents. This is an opportunity for you to give something to the school. It is only fair that all families play their part in contributing to the life of the school.

Please support the Parents Association who have organised a CLOTHES COLLECTION for Monday, March 24th. This is such an easy way of making funds for the school which we can then spend on resources/equipment for the school. Please start now gathering clothes and materials you don’t want.

Friday, 14th March: No Uniform Day: Children are encouraged to wear somethinggreen (keep it simple!)to school. The children are asked tobring a coin which will be collected by the Parents Association

Anti-Bullying Policy review:Currently we are reviewing our anti-bullying policy. On Wednesday 5th February, Seán Fallon gave a presentation to staff, followed by a presentation to parents. He shared his expertise with us and advised us on how to ensure our school is a safe place for pupils, where bullying situations are dealt with promptly and effectively. On Wednesday 26th February the staff reviewed and discussed the school's anti-bullying policy. On Mondays 3rd and 10th March and Wednesday 19th March, representatives from the Board of Management, staff and parents will examine elements of the policy and discuss same, in particular the proposed 'Reform, not blame' approach. The views of our senior pupils will contribute to the discussion. We encourage all in our community to read a copy of this DRAFT policy on the school website and send feedback to .
