Match Report
A win today would be a nice way to finish the first third of the season but it was going to take all players to contribute and lift their intensity. We started well winning the footy out of the middle and giving our forwards opportunities, and around the ground we were on top and running and creating but maybe just didn’t hit the scoreboard enough.
Unfortunately we lost our way in the second and third quarter becoming second to the ball and not paying enough respect to our opposition. We were down on numbers on the bench so the boys just had to fight on, and to the team’s credit, fight they did and forced our way back into the game which could quite easily have turned into a blow-out. Unfortunately time ran out and we couldn’t peg back the lead with only ourselves to blame for going to sleep in the middle stages. Wilba gave us first use in the centre and took some good marks getting back in the hole. Jlo worked tirelessly forward, mid and back. Taz attacked the footy down back and was flattened but got back up.
Macca couldn’t have given more, Jmack and Meat played the wings superbly with Meat going to forward and kicking three. Jco went from full back and made an impact in the middle tackling and giving second and third efforts. First third of the year we have positioned ourselves well, let’s push hard these next 5 games and really establish ourselves and set ourselves up to finish high on the ladder.
