Eligibility
Participation is open to everyone.There isno participation fee.
Theme
The theme of the art show is Environmental Justice in Indiana.
Entry submission
Complete our online submission form or print, fill out and return the form available on our , or by mail to Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter, 1100 W. 42nd St., Suite 215, Indianapolis, IN 46208
Each artist may submit 1 -2 works of original art (please complete aseparatesubmission form for each piece).
Each work must be accompanied by an artist's statement (see submission form).
The submission deadline isFriday April 27, 2018.
Selection Process
The Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter reserves the right to refuse any entry that would go against all or any of the Club’s values as presented on our website.
Notification to Participants
Each participant will receive confirmation about their participation in the exhibition byMay 4, 2018 at the latest.
Opening reception
There will be an opening reception from 6-8pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018 which all exhibiting artists will be invited to attend.
Delivery of artworks
Worksmust be delivered(in person or via courier) to the Indiana Interchurch Center, Room #215 on Monday, May 7 or Wednesday, May 9 (9.30 AM - 3 PM). Please call 317-822-3750 or email or early delivery or other delivery requirements.
Entry requirements
Criteria
Original work may be in any media (two-dimensional, three-dimensional, multi-media) including, but not limited to: hand-pulled prints, oil, acrylic, watercolor, photographs, computerized or web-based artwork, metals, reclaimed or found objects, wood.
Works must be ready for hanging or displaying, whether framed or not. Paintings or other works on canvas that are not framed must have finished sides.
Works should not be larger than 1200 inches squared (i.e. 30" x 40"). We might be able to accommodate larger pieces.Please contact us for special size needs or concerns.
Because of the nature and location of the exhibit, a work made of glass or any other material subject to breaking is not recommended.
Mobiles may be submitted and may be comprised of any of the above-mentioned materials.
All work must be stable and professionally presented.
Please use good judgment with regard to size. Do not create a work that is small enough to be easily picked up and carried away.
Multi-media
Videos and other multi-media may be submitted and will be displayed on appropriate equipment.
As an example, a video might be created using dance/movement and music composed by the participant.
Display
All artworks will be displayed by the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter staff with the help of the Indiana Interchurch Center staff and a curator. Artworks will be handled with care. Participants may give display suggestions to the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter, but final decisions will be made by the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter and the Indiana Interchurch Center.
Pick Up
The exhibition will end on Friday, June 29, 2018. Works must be removed on Monday July 2, or Tuesday, July 3 (9.30 AM - 12 PM).
Publicity
The Art Show, artworks submitted and information given by the participants may be publicized on the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter platforms including but not limited to website, social media, newsletter, e-newsletter. The Art Show, artworks and information given by the participants may also be used by public media for communication and promotion purposes.
Selling your artwork
Your artwork may be for sale. All sales will be handled directly through the participant. While there is no fee to participate, the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter requires a 50% donation of all art sales. Please note that contributions and gifts to the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter are not tax-deductible; they support our effective, citizen-based advocacy and lobbying efforts.
