Minutes of Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild

April 6, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Jeanette Gregory, president.

Judy Fox welcomed 63 members and 2 guests who were present. Kathy Neal and Mariann Amass joined the guild today.

Mary Wilkerson, Cindy Felts and Loretta Phelps were singled out to present the guild with the appraisal of the chance quilt by Halley Bonne. The quilt was appraised at $14,250.00 and it was mentioned that it was the most stunning quilt seen by Halley, best use of color and design by Cindy and exquisite workmanship of machine quilting by Mary.

Motion was made by Marilyn and seconded by Susan to approve the minutes as written. Motion passed.

Treasurer’s report of $5612.20 in the checkbook account and $13,492.72 in the savings account was approved.

History, Newsletter, Publicity, Library, Nominations:

Jeanette mentioned articles in the newspaper concerning the challenge quilt winners and also that photos were needed for the scrapbook. In July, we will have review of the new books in the library. Also, a slate of officers for 2017-2018 will be due in May. All those wishing to be considered for a position, please inform the nominations chair.

Karen’s 10,000 inches:

Received in March were 8 quilts, total 1216 inches. To date: 3532 inches.

National Quilt Day:

Baby quilt received with thanks and also thanks from the nursing and support staff at the hospital for the guild’s gift.

Special projects:

Donna will be accepting UFOs entries today in Sharoll’s place.

Pillowcases:

Cheri accepted 33 today. There are still 47 kits left.

Quilt Show:

Boutique:Christmas items, baby items requested

Bed turning:8 more quilts needed

Vintage Market:Received 18 FQs, 3 books, 1 pattern.

Quilts ID:A felt rosebud attached to a clothespin will be used to attach to each quilt’s description.

Announcements:

Tickets to the quilt museum in Paducah are available.

Programs:

Joyce Darr’s Autumn Medallion class is Saturday, April 8.

Lynn Harris will present a trunk show at the May meeting. She will teach String Theory on May 5 and Tiny Piecing on May 6.

Today’s program was presented by Bertha Echelberry, owner of The Thread Peddler, Buckhorn on Civil War Quilts.

We had 11 Show and Tell. After the drawings, meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
