1. INTRODUCTION

Yet in the 90-ties, by applying ever harder and more wear and temperature resistant cutting materials, started investigations of machining processes with the objective to increase cutting speeds. It illustrates the way cutting materials influence development of machining processes and machine tools. Taylor's assumption that cutting temperature rise with increase of cutting speed was worthy before finding of high speed machining (Carl Salamon, 1931), figure 1. ...
