NRMLA's Reverse Mortgage Education Week is dedicated to teaching professionals who work with seniors how reverse mortgage loans work and how a HECM can help meet their clients' financial needs.

On Friday, April 22, NRMLA is hosting a free webinar that examines the most common needs of America’s seniors and the role a reverse mortgage can play in fulfilling them, and in creating peace of mind. Experts will explain HECM loans and share real world examples of borrowers who used a HECM to diversify financial assets, buy a new home, pay for in-home care, delay collecting Social Security, make home repairs and modifications, mitigate sequence risk to an investment portfolio, and pay off an existing mortgage.

"Meeting Your Clients' Needs with a Reverse Mortgage" is for professionals who serve seniors as caregivers, financial planners, mortgage professionals, real estate agents, or social workers. It will feature:

·  An overview of reverse mortgage loans including how they work, how they are used, and new consumer safeguards to protect borrowers and their spouses
Speaker: Dan Hultquist, author and NRMLA Education Committee Co-Chair

·  A discussion of the unique financial challenges seniors encounter as they age and examples of how those needs can be managed with reverse mortgage proceeds
Speaker: Lorraine Geraci, NRMLA Education Committee

·  A presentation from a financial planner who will explain how home equity can enhance a retirement plan and provide examples of how a reverse mortgage can improve portfolio survivability
Speaker: Suzette Blackburn, Financial Planner & Owner of CapStar Financial

·  An introduction to the benefits of using a reverse mortgage to purchase a home and how it compares to other purchase options
Speaker: Craig Barnes, NRMLA Education Committee

·  Time for questions with our speakers
