ARIMED ORTHOTICS AND PROSTHETICS

JOB TITLE: MEDICAL COLLECTIONS CLERK

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for locating and notifying customers of delinquent or problem accounts by mail, telephone, or email.. Communicates daily with a variety of insurer and health care organizations on patient claims status'.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Receives payments and posts amounts paid to customer accounts.

Locates and monitors overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.

Records information about patients claim and status and ongoing collection efforts.

Locates and notifies customers of delinquent or overdue accounts by mail or telephone..

Sorts and files correspondence, and performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as answering correspondence and preparing weekly collection reports.

Arranges for debt repayment and establishes repayment schedules, based on patients' financial situations.

Must have thorough understanding of HIPPA and other related health care regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages etc.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of; Contact Management systems; Database software; Internet software;and Medical software and applications.
