MINUTEMAN MASTERS SWIM CLUB

Goal Sheet

It is important for every swimmer to have a goal. The goal can be as complex as being able to decrease a time by 1 second every week for a year or as simple as just wanting to feel physically better. There is an aspect to swimming that seems to separate it from other sports. It’s not just the fact that you spend the majority of your time immersed in water, but that it’s both a team and an individual sport simultaneously. The team, as a unit, has its own goals whether they be winning a meet or creating an environment where swimmers can learn to swim better. The individual has their own goals which, by default, supercede those of the team and at the same time, support the team.

The questions below have been designed to capture your goals so that we as coaches can help you achieve them. While we will continue to mature the group overall during the next session, we will also be able to focus on you. In order for this to work you must be honest and realistic. Please fill out this sheet at your earliest convenience and submit your sheet back to your coach.

1) Why are you swimming? Why are you swimming on a Masters team as opposed to swimming by yourself?

4) Which stroke(s) would you most like to improve on in the coming year?

5) What is your favorite event/distance? (This may include open water swims as well)

6) Do you plan on swimming competitively in the coming year? Using the chart below please list your specific goal time(s) for any set(s)/swim(s)/event(s) you would like to improve on in the coming year. If you do not intend to compete but would still like to better your times overall, please just list “in practice” as your location and a time frame by which you would like to complete that goal.
