Further to your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act, which was received on 12th April 2016, I am writing to let you know that the time limit for response needs to be extended.
Although the Act normally requires us to send a response within 20 working days, it is sometimes necessary to extend this limit in certain circumstances.
In this case we will need to extend the response deadline by a further 14 working days because the information you have asked for needs to be considered under one of the Act's exemptions where a public interest test applies. This means that we need to assess whether the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in withholding it, and extra time can be allowed for this deliberation.
The particular exemption we are considering is Section 30 (Investigations & proceedings conducted by Public Authorities).
I hope to let you have a response by 30th May and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause. In the meantime, if you have any queries about this letter please contact me quoting the reference number above.
If you are unhappy with the decisions made by HSE you may ask for an internal review within two calendar months of the date of this letter by writing to me.
