SEPTEMBER 2016

GREETING

Does your calendar have an extra day of the week? It is not a day that comes every week, but every so often this day is added to our calendar. Along with the 7 regular days of the week, Sunday through Saturday comes an eighth day, SOMEDAY.

While on the mission trip to Chattanooga, TN one of the YouthWorks’ staff shared his experience with SOMEDAY.

It seems as he was growing he was always promised by his grandfather that SOMEDAY he would get to go for a boat ride on his grandfather’s boat. Every time he asked his grandfather when he would get to out on the boat he was told’ “SOMEDAY.”

Carl is now 23 years old and SOMEDAY has yet to come.

Have you ever told yourself, that SOMEDAY you are going to do something.

What are planning to do SOMEDAY?

I have had people tell SOMEDAY:

I am going to get back to church.

I am going to read my Bible.

I am going to spend a day at the church doing odd jobs that need to be done.

I am going to serve on consistory.

I am going to study the Bible.

I am going to forgive ______.

I am going to make a health donation

to ______.

For everyone who has ever said, SOMEDAY______, I have GREAT NEWS!

SOMEDAY IS COMING! Mark your calendars because on September 18, 2016 we are going to celebrate SOMEDAY.

NO MORE putting off!

NO MORE waiting until!

NO MORE excuses!

SOMEDAY IS HERE!

Join us as we will celebrate SOMEDAY on September 18. Our celebration begins in worship at 10:00 AM.

Godspeed

Pastor Rich

OUTDOOR WORSHIP

& PICNIC

Our outdoor worship and picnic will be Sunday, September 11th at 10am. It will be at Boro Park. On the 15th anniversary of 9-11, we will remember and give thanks.

After worship will have a country fair with games for all ages - watermelon eating contest, bean toss, and more.

Please bring a side dish or a dessert. It would be appreciated.BRING a friend orneighbor or both!

REMEMBRANCE

is a sacred moment when we raise up and hold to the light of the eternal, the good who have passed.

We remember:

great courage; selfless service; selfless sacrifice; loss of human life; dutiful commitment to those in distress.

CRAZY LOVE

It's crazy, if you think about it. The God of the universe loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love. And what is our typical response? We go to church, sing songs, and try not to cuss.

God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts—it's falling in love with God.

Coming September 14th an online study where you will be able to share your answers, questions or just follow along.

THE NEW TESTAMENT

The New Testament is undoubtedly the single most important book in the history of Western Civilization, whether seen as a religions book of faith or a culture artifact.

Starting Wednesday, September 28th @ 1:00PM in the confirmation room we watch videos which presents the New Testament from a historical perspective, bracketed with questions of belief and theology.

PRAYER of the MONTH

Prayers to Begin a School Year

God of wisdom and might,

we praise you for the wonder of our being,

for mind, body and spirit.

Be with all children as they begin

a new school year.

Bless them and their teachers and staff.

Give the strength and grace as their bodies grow; wisdom and knowledge to their minds as they search for understanding;

and peace and zeal to their hearts.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

CHOIRS RESUME

Children’s Choir: resumes rehearsals on Sunday, Sept. 18 (11:30 to noon in the chapel of the church school building). Children in grades 1 – 6 are invited to join us!

Adult Choir: resumes Thursday rehearsals (7:30 – 9 pm in the choir room) on Sept. 8. New singers are most welcome!

Choir perks:

Sure, you knew that choir members get to offer their time, hard work, and talents in worship, but did you know that they also enjoy:

  1. An excuse to get out of the house on Thurs. evenings
  2. Sneak preview of the Sunday bulletin
  3. Freedom to wear pjs under those blue robes – who would know?
  4. Views of the clock and congregation, and the best seats in the house for baptisms
  5. Unlimited supply of pencils
  6. Reserved seat for Christmas/Easter/Pentecost
  7. And finally, singing to the Lord is just plain fun!

There is plenty of space in the choir pews. Come join us!

ORGAN FUND UPDATE

In July, a donor generously offered to match the next $5000 donated to the Organ Fund, and we quickly rose to the challenge! At the time of writing this newsletter, we have raised about $20K of our $25K goal, in only three months time! Thanks be to God for your generosity!

Further donations to the fund are welcomed and will be used for future organ repairs. Please indicate “Organ Fund” on any check or correspondence.
