Job Summary

The postholder will be required to develop and manage all promotional events, marketing outputs and support the fundraising activities of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. The post will be based at The Harbourmaster’s House, Dysart but will involve travel between the Trust’s other bases throughout Fife.

Job Purpose

·  To deliver the Trust’s marketing strategy and site marketing plans to support the business plan and Key Performance Indicators.

·  To develop and manage the Trust’s marketing activities as detailed in the marketing strategy and the site marketing plans.

·  To create awareness of the activities of the Trust through a consistently strong marketing message. Use of appropriate advertising and marketing materials including leafleting, printing, online, press, events and public relations presence.

·  To manage media relations and press coverage, the production of promotional material and the development of an Annual Event.

·  To ensure a consistent and effective approach to all FCCT communication materials including websites and social media delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing

·  Deliver the existing marketing strategy for FCCT in-line with changes to the Trust’s Business plan and SLA outputs.

·  Deliver outcomes and activities as defined in the FCCT marketing strategy and the site specific marketing plans for relevant sites.

·  Manage the design of promotional materials for FCCT ensuring best value for the organisation and ensuring they adhere to the branding guidelines, are well branded, accessible and fit for purpose.

·  Where appropriate, seek summer internship opportunities within Harbourmaster’s House for design students.

·  Ensure all marketing outputs are produced in-line with the Branding Guidelines.

·  Manage the Trust’s press and PR activities with a view to maximising both local and national coverage for our work in conjunction with our PR company.

·  Manage the Trust’s social media activities, in particular, the Twitter and facebook accounts to ensure that the Trust is engaging with stakeholders.

·  Liaise with Visit Scotland on new initiatives and activities e.g. Fife Tours and Partnership.

·  Develop a network of key contacts including local press, funders, visitor attractions and tourism professionals in order to share best practice and ensure strong promotion of FCCT and its work.

·  Co-ordinate effective distribution of relevant brochures / materials with regular updating of mailing lists.

·  Work with staff to ensure delivery of a quarterly newsletter for FCCT.

·  Comply with all aspects of the Fife Council communications protocol.

·  Ensure that the Trust’s image library is well maintained and managed.

Events

·  Be responsible for all events equipment and materials, ensuring that they are well maintained and their location is known at all times.

·  Work with Site Managers to deliver annual events for FCCT based on an events plan agreed by Team Leaders, co-ordinate feedback from these events and report to Business Manager.

·  Promote the Trusts activities at all relevant countryside shows/events arranging attendance, stand space, materials, advertising and promotion of such events delivering outputs as agreed with the CEO.

Finance

·  Managing the marketing budget to ensure best value for all marketing expenditure.

·  Ensuring that the marketing function is given an appropriate budget each year in order to deliver the agreed outputs.

The Person

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy marketing role. They will have previously demonstrated the ability to manage a marketing function and should be able to demonstrate a history of working with different audiences as well as working to tight deadlines, showing flexibility and a willingness to “go the extra mile” to deliver results. Knowledge of FCCT and it’s work is highly desirable. Ideally have knowledge of Scotland’s Tourism Product.

General

A current normal working week is 36 hours per week Monday to Friday inclusive. This post is advertised on a part time basis for 30 hours per week. Some weekend working will be required to support some of the Trust’s events.

A Flexible working arrangement is in operation and any time worked above the normal working week is compensated for by time off in lieu but is not encouraged. Overtime is not paid. Time worked over a normal working week must be approved by the post-holders Line Manager.

Holiday entitlement is currently 24 days plus 8 days Public Holiday (rising to 29 days after the completion of five years’ service). This would be pro rata for part-time posts

FCCT reserve the right to allocate other duties of equivalent grade and status as determined by the workload of the organisation.

Person Specification

Marketing Officer

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications and experience / Business or marketing related qualification (HNC or equivalent), or relevant professional experience.
Proven experience of delivering marketing strategies and plans, and of contributing creative solutions
A proven history of delivering successful outcomes using small budgets
Experience of running a successful events programme
Experience of creative writing in a business environment.
Experience of budget and financial management. / Experience of working in the charitable sector
Knowledge of FCCT and its activities
Marketing related HND or above
Time spent in a supervisory role
Skills abilities and Knowledge / Proven written and verbal communication skills
Experience of dealing with people and organisations at all levels
