25th April 2014

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and I hope you all had a relaxing Easter holiday. We were so lucky with the weather!

Congratulations to Mrs Wheeler, our Senco, who will be taking up her new position as Senco in Chiddingly School from 1st May. I personally would like to thank her for the support, hard work, expertise and team spirit she has brought to Catsfield over the past 10 years. She will be greatly missed. We wish her every success inher future role.

A reminder that this Saturday is the PTA Quiz nighttaking place in the village hall at 7pm. £5 per head to include first drink. Bring your own food. Email to book, or ring 07808 572310.

A list of clubs is attached. There is no netball club this term but we are currently organising an outside agency to run a sport- based club starting a little later in the term; full details to follow. It is not necessary to complete a fresh consent form if your child is continuing with an after school club they attended last term. Consent is required, however, for children joining new clubs. All clubs start next week.

KS2 SATS will take place the week beginning 12th May. These are government tests and will be taken at exactly the same time by every year 6 child in the country. This can be a tense time for the children but they are being very well prepared at school. Any extra practice they can do at home will boost their confidence. During that week they will benefit from plenty of sleep, reassurance and a healthy diet to ensure they are able to do their best. Children in Year 6 will have received a letter this week.

WW1: In term 6 Catsfield School will join with the village in remembering the centenary of WW1. Our whole school learning journey will start on 2nd June. As a starting point we have taken names from the war memorial to investigate. Several of those who died attendedCatsfieldSchool more than 100 years ago and, indeed, some families still have children here. The children will be looking at our school 100 years ago as well as the actual war. If you have any information, photos, medals, certificates or information in your family we would love to share them with you and perhaps find out more. History means so much more when taken from a personal point of view.

Whole School Photograph On Monday 2nd June we are having a whole school photograph [all staff and pupils] to celebrate our Outstanding Ofsted.

Summer School for young musicians– The East Sussex Music Service runs a summer school every year for children who would like to explore music in more depth. There are many different courses available to book and details can be found on The closing date for applications is 6th June.
