Rules & Conditions

Notable ChangeOn Day 1 the Donegal Tankard will be reduced from a 2+15 to a 2+10 and the three Stage 1 shoots will be increased from 2+7s to 2+10s.

Rules and TargetsAs per NRA unless otherwise stated.

Ammunition Any ammo, including handloads, provided the bullet does not weigh more than 156g. Random samples of ammo may be checked.

TrophiesAll trophies to be returned at least one month before the following year’s meeting.

Marking dutiesCompetitor marking is required. Anyone shooting both TR and F Class must provide a marker for all details. Anyone leaving early may forfeit some or all of their scores and prizes.

Challenges£1.00 fee for losing a challenge.

TiesAll ties will be decided on the count back system.

Range hireAll competitors must contribute £10.00 towards range hire per day.

MembershipAll non-Northern Ireland club members must pay £2.00 temporary membership.

DeductionsAny competitor undergoing full-time education can claim 25% reduction in entry fees only.

Blow Off shotsThere will be no blow off shots for any class

FTR class The rules for FTR class are as follows:

  • Sights: Scopes allowed
  • Front Rests: Bipod and/or sling only
  • Rear Rests: Bag only (no mechanical rests)
  • Ammo: 156g max, .308 or .223 (or metric equivalents) ONLY
  • Ammo samples may be taken for weighing.

Certificate of Competence and Safety.

All competitors must produce a valid Certificate of Competency signed by their Club Chairman otherwise they will not be allowed to shoot.

ScoringALL competitors from ALL classes are to use the V‐Bull system. (i.e. a 6 is recorded as a V bull. The scores for F Class shooters will then be corrected in Stats.

Changes to programme, prizes or final

The Range Committee reserves the right to amend the programme or prizes, particularly where there are small numbers of competitors in any class. The number of shooters in the Final may also be varied due to the number of competitors in each class or other relevant circumstances.

HME TestingAny competitor using ammo that has a muzzle energy higherthan 4,500 joules must complete a special zeroing procedureat 200 yards before being allowed to fire again. Testing will be on Saturday morning at 9am and on Sunday at 9am if needed. You must indicate on your entry form if you require HME testing otherwise you will not be permitted to compete with HME ammo. (NRA Rules of Shooting, Appendix 18)

All competitors are to be at the range shelter by 8.45am to pick up their cards and marking details.

Ammo will be available for purchase for the competition onlyat a price of £75 for 100 rounds. Ammo must be paid for separately from entries (i.e. 2 cheques)

Prize giving will be at 1630hrs on Sunday, or earlier if possible.

The range committee reserves the right to alter or modify conditions and prizes to Match circumstances prevailing at the time.

The organisers request that shooters move to and from the butts as quickly as possible when given permission by the Range/Butts Officers. Range Officers will try to make up time throughout the day by starting details as soon as the shooters are ready.

The final will consist of the top 8 “TR” shooters,top 2 “FTR” shooters and top 2 “Classic” shooters. (This is subject to change depending on the number of entrants and circumstances at the time)
