Music Notation/ Performance
§ Identify and count sixteenth notessyllabically. Perform examples from band method book that contain sixteenth notes.
§ Identify music notations, symbols, notes, meter and key signatures, dynamics, tempo, and articulation markings from studied literature.
§ Perform music, perceptively, alone or with an ensemble.
§ Play selections maintaining a steady beat with whole, dotted half, half, dotted quarter, dotted eighth, eighth and triplets notes in 2/4, ¾, 4/4, 3/8,
6/8 and 9/8 time signatures.
§ Play music selections with syncopated rhythms.
§ Play major scales – C, G, F, Bb, Eb, and Ab as whole, half, dotted half, quarter, eighth, and triplet notes.
§ Identify and perform selections in various key signatures
§ Practice selections in preparation of Band Festival selections.

§ Same / § Compose an eight measure piece using symbols of your choice to represent sound or pitches. Carefully organize your rhythmic patterns.
§ Write a poem using music notations, symbols, etc..
§ Write the explanation of what is a major scale. Remember to include the numbers to represent the scale degrees; brackets to represent whole steps; and curves to represent half steps. Include details and examples to support your explanation.
§ According to your clef sign, write these major scales as whole notes, beginning on the following notes, C, G, Bb, Eb, Ab ,and F.
§ Select any piece from your band folder and rewrite 10 consecutive measures using accidentals to replace notes affected by the key signatures.
