B.F.D News

  • The bid for the three new pumps has been awarded to KME.
  • Congrats to the 51 new Boston Firefighters who graduated from the last Recruit Class.
  • The Fire Brigade (former Engine Co. 54) on Long Island has taken delivery of a 2009 Ford/KME pump. It is equipped with a 1,250 gpm pump and carries 1,000 gallons of water. A noticeable feature is the 3 man cab.
  • The 1998 Emergency One 110 foot RMA formerly assigned to Ladder 24 was completely refurbished and re-assigned to Ladder Company 25.
  • Member William Noonan is hanging up his helmet on March 31st. Bill joined the BFD on July 7th, 1971 and was assigned to Engine 3 in the South End. He transferred to the Photo Unit of the Arson Squad in April of 1978. Bill has taken thousands of shots of the BFD in action at some of the largest and famous fires in the last 40 years. We all wish you good luck and thank you for all you have done to document the fire service.
