American Cancer Society “Cakes For a Cure” Contest, Calendar and Concert Fundraiser -
April 24, 2010 in Greenwood SC

A jam-packed, one-day event for all levels of cake lovers, bakers and decorators! All proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life.

Cake Tasting Contest. Bring a family favorite or develop your own recipe that will become a family tradition. This contest will be based solely on taste. Jeanne Ray, author of fiction book, Eat Cake, will select the winners. Bakers may choose to donate these cakes to the Ice Cream Social.

Cake Decorating Contest.

Amateurs may decorate real cakes or forms with creative use of the cancer ribbon symbol and/or “Cakes for a Cure” logo (see flyer) and technique used as the judging criteria.

Professional/master cake chefs will provide decorated forms for judging using “With a Song In My Heart” as the theme. Whether it’s country (“In the Arms of an Angel”), pop (“I Love Rock n’ Roll”), traditional (“Autumn Leaves”), or easy listening (“Carolina on my Mind”), any song and design will do.

Cake Demonstrations. Several offerings of demonstrations will be scheduled throughout the day.

Cake Decorating for Dummies. Get the guys involved! 2-Man teams will compete in a Showdown challenge to decorate a cake using standard store ingredients.
