I want someone to play with me?


1.Look at the person.

2. Call the person by name and wait for him to look at me.

3. Look at the person and ask, “ Would youlike to play with me?

4. Decide together what you are going to play.

5. Remember, sometimes my friend may not want to play.

It is OK, he may want to play with someone else.

6. If he says no, then I need to ask someone else to play with me.

I want to talk to someone?

1.Look at the person.

2. Call the person by name and wait for him/her to look at me.

3. Look at the person and tell him/her what you want to say.

I get my homework?

1. When I get my homework, I will write my assignment in my planner.

2. Next, I will take a deep breath.

3. Then, I will say, “It’s ok! Homework will help me to learn more. Everyone gets homework. I am just like all of my friends.”

4. Finally, I need to put my homework in my folder.

5. I know that homework is a part of my job as a fifth grader.

What Can I Do When …

I haven’t finished all of my lunch?

1. When I have extra food at the end of lunch, I will put it in my lunch box and take it home to my mom.

2. I know that my mom needs to see what I ate for lunch.

3. It is OK that I didn’t finish my lunch.

4. If my mom asks me, I will tell her that I ate everything that I could. My stomach felt full.

5. I will tell my mom what I want her to pack in my lunch for tomorrow.

What Can I Do When …

I want to sit with [insert name] on the bus?

1. I will check my calendar to see if it is my day to sit with [insertname]

2. When I get on the bus, I will look to see if [insert name] is sitting with his friend.


3. If he is sitting with his friend, I will say Hello to them and then sit with another friend.

4. It is OK that [insert name] is sitting with his friend. I don’t have to sit with [insert name] everyday. Sometimes, I like to sit with other kids.

5. I will look at my calendar to see when it is my turn to sit with [insert name]

What Can I Do When …

I want to sit in the lounge?

1. When it is time for SSR, I will look in the lounge to see if there is room for me.


2. If there is a seat, I will sit down and quietly read my book.

3. If there is not a seat available, I will go back to my desk and read quietly. It is OK that there is not room for me. Everyone gets a turn to sit in the lounge. Today, it is not my turn.

4. I will ask [insert teacher name] if I can have a turn tomorrow.

What Can I Do When …

My teacher is on the phone or is talking to someone else?

1. When I want to talk to my teacher. I will look to see if he/she is talking to someone.

2. If my teacher is not talking to anyone, then I can call his/her name.

3. But, if my teacher is talking to someone or is talking on the phone, then I need to be patient and wait my turn.

4. After my teacher has finished talking, then I can call his/her name.

5. Now, it is my turn to talk to my teacher.

What Can I Do When …

I want to sit next to my friends in the computer lab?

1. When I go to the computer lab, I want to sit next to my friends.

2. Sometimes, other people are sitting next to my friends.

3. It is OK that I am not able to sit next to my friends. I will look for another seat.


4. Maybe I can sit next to my friends the next time.
