WSN05 - Practical information

1.  Conference location

2.  Admittance to the Meteopole and the conference

Admission to the conference is pending on finalizing registration and payment. A banking machine (Visa, Mastercard, AE) is available in the hall of the restaurant of the Météopole, and credit card payment is also possible. You will receive a badge and a package containing the final programme, the short abstract book, the extended abstract CD, invitations to social events and a reply form, and lunch tickets.

According to Meteo-France security rules, you must wear your conference badge permanently during the conference. If you enter Meteo-France in way other than the conference shuttle service, you will have to go through the security checks and show an ID card.

A number of computers are in self service in room Guy Der Megreditchian (Level 2), together with Internet plugs and a WiFi network.

4.  Oral presentations

Regular talks are 12 minutes in duration, Invited talks, 25 minutes. Please note that this includes the time for setup and questions. Speakers will be given a five minute warning. With two minutesleft the Session chair will stand up, which is the indication to conclude as soon as possible. All speakers should note that since the schedule is fully booked, exceeding the allocated time will reduce the time for following speakers or for the breaks.

Presenters should either upload their presentation before the conference by email of ftp (refer to SOC instructions received), or load it on the conference PC, in the relevant half-day folder, as soon as possible (and no later than the day before their talk); if necessary, the operator is located in the technical room at the upper back of the conference room (access by the upstairs corridor at the back).

5.  Poster sessions

Poster sessions occur in parallel with the oral programme. Time is available during breaks and lunches for viewing the posters. They are on display both on the ground floor and upstairs (on the left side of the conference room).

Poster presenters for sessions 1-2-3-4 should install their posters before Monday, 10.30 am, and uninstall them Tuesday between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm.

Poster presenters for sessions 5-6-7-8 should install their posters between Tuesday, 6.30 pm and Wednesday, 10.30am and uninstall them before Thursday, 7.00 pm.

Tape and pins for installing poster are available at the welcome desk.

6.  Lunches, coffee breaks

Conference participants will receive lunch tickets for the on-site restaurant, located next to the CIC. In order to avoid long queues for lunch, please consider having a look at posters at the beginning of the lunch break rather than after lunch. You may arrive at the restaurant until 1.45 pm.

Coffee will be served at CIC, after lunch and during breaks.

7.  Social events calendar

For registration for the excursion and Thursday’s dinner, you can either return to the secretary office the specific form available in the conference bag, or use the registration poster on the notice-board in the hall.

8.  WSN05 shuttle service

Shuttles will leave the city centre (hotels) each morning (Mon-Fri) and drive you back in the evening. There will be a WSN05 sign at the front of the buses. The bus schedule below is provisional, and may be modified until September, 1st. Please check the latest version on the conference web site (http://www.meteo.fr/cic/wsn05/ ) before leaving. For the first three meeting points, the bus will arrive earlier than indicated.

A taxi can drive you to Meteopole in about 15 minutes.

It should cost around 20 €.

You can also take the airport shuttle to the stop

"Allées Jean-Jaurès", and then the underground and bus (see below).

è from the centre of Toulouse to Météo-France

Take the Underground to the last stop "Basso Cambo", then catch a bus on line number 8 , Check that the direction at the front of the bus is "Lycée Polyvalent", then get off at stop "Météo-France". Alternatively, bus 21 heading to “Colomiers Airbus” stops close to Météo-France, at bus stop “Vandel”

An underground + bus ticket costs around 1,25 €.
