Barum's current summer tyre range for cars

Sporty and economical

Hanover, April 2009. The Barum tyre portfolio includes the Bravuris 2, a genuine sports tyre, which is complemented by the Brillantis for cars with less powerful engines. Both tyres excel through their high mileage performance and their economy.

Barum Bravuris 2 - speed and economy for more powerful cars

The Bravuris 2 was designed as a sports tyre offering high mileage performance, which is achieved through its completely new contour and innovative tread compound. The outer shoulder boasts a further conspicuous modification - the number of tread blocks has been reduced and they have been made more stable to accelerate transmission of the steering forces. As a result, the Bravuris 2 has an extremely neutral steering response and outstanding directional stability.

In contrast to the outer shoulder, the number of tread blocks on the inner shoulder has been increased, creating further lateral grooves through which the water can be rapidly discharged from the ground contact patch. Thanks to reinforced tread sipes, and the resulting even tread block stiffness and ground pressure distribution this brought about, the developers were also able to shorten the braking distance and improve grip on wet and dry roads.

The Bravuris 2 is approved for speeds of up to 300 km/h (187 mph). The tyre is available in sizes from 15" to 20", with the current size range extending from 195/65 R 15 V to the sporty 255/35 ZR 20 Y as an XL version.

The Barum Brillantis - high mileage performance for compact and medium range cars

One of the fundamental performance criteria of the Brillantis is its high mileage, with a reduced risk of aquaplaning plus reliable traction during acceleration and braking. "The tyre has an exceptionally flat belt contour, in line with the Barum Belt System, and uniform ground pressure distribution" said Natalia Kohls, Product Manager for Barum's compact summer tyres. "Furthermore there are sipes in the shoulder and central tread blocks. These design features ensure minimal deformation in the contact patch and even tread wear in the tyre centre and shoulder section."

Central grooves and two inner shoulder channels, combined with numerous lateral grooves, ensure reliable water dispersion, thereby reducing the risk of aquaplaning, as well as shortening braking distances on wet road surfaces. Moreover, the many tread block edges and high tread stiffness mean precise transmission of forces during acceleration and braking.

The Brillantis is approved for speeds of up to 210 km/h (131 mph). It is available in sizes from 12" to 15" and the current range extends from 155/70 R 12 T to 195/65 R 15 T.
