Job Description : Assistant Headteacher, Offsite Provision

Responsible to: Executive Head Teacher. Pay Range : L10 – L14

Purpose of the Job:

To ensure consistent application of all KHNES systems across the Oakfields education provision, and both tuition and outreach cases as directed by the Executive Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher (Operations). Within this to ensure the highest high quality is maintained in all hubs overseen in respect of :

-Teaching, learning and assessment across the service, ensuring students achieve expected outcomes.

-Personal development, behaviour and welfare in the hub/s overseen, according to KHNES systems and policies

-To ensure that all tuition and outreach work is carried out to the highest and most consistent standard – this to include constant review of Quality assurance processes for the work of both Tuition and Outreach staff.

-Performance management and line management of all staff related to areas of responsibility (Outreach, Tuition and Oakfields)

-The undertake DSL training to level 3 and ensure safeguarding practices are consistently applied in the areas of responsibility related to the post.

1)Relationships

  1. The postholder is responsible to the Executive Head Teacher

The postholder will undertake appraisal of designated staff within Oakfields educaton, (including and any admin staff), as well as Outreach support staff and dedicated KHNES tuition staff

  1. The postholder liaises with tutors and any tuition agencies utilised by KHNES in order to ensure the highest quality of provision across the service as is deemed most effective.
  2. The postholder acts in consultation with professional colleagues including Head Teachers from receiving schools in agreeing effective means of curriculum delivery and ensuring pupil wellbeing.
  3. The postholder will liaise with Education and Young People’s Services, Families, Social Care and Health and represent the views and policies of the Health Needs Education Service to ensure that individual pupil needs are met.

2)Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. To ensure that Oakfields operates to the highest standards through clear and consistent line management of staff and their associated work.The specialist nature of this provision will require a particular approach. Through this, and liaison with other executive leaders, to ensure consistency of the quality of provision across the whole service.
  1. To attend all relevant meetings associated with Oakfields operations inliaison with SLaM, and to oversee delegation to other Oakfields staff as appropriate.
  1. To oversee all aspects of outreach support and the work of all outreach support staff.
  1. To manage, allocate and monitor tuition cases for all KHNES tutors, and any external agencies that are employed to this effect.
  1. To attend and contribute to all Executive and Senior Leadership meetings
  1. To implement all aspects of KHNES policies and practices across the locality hub/s overseen and both outreach and tuition staff, through regular liaison with both the Executive Headteacher, and the Deputy Headteacher (Operations).
  1. To work alongside the Executive Headteacher, and the Deputy Headteacher (Operations) in undertaking quality assurance work at regular intervals as directed.
  1. To ensure that induction, training, supervision and performance management is in place for the staff under your supervision with particular responsibility for induction and training in their particular job responsibilities related to their designated roles.
  1. To conduct disciplinary procedures, in line with the Management Committee’s approved policies when necessary.
  1. To ensure high quality reporting and communication regarding outcomes, with students, parents and other stakeholders for the hub/s overseen, and tuition cases as required.
  1. To oversee and attend all relevant parents’ evenings
  1. To support the professional development of the staff in implementing Kent Health Needs Education Policy and the Government statutory guidance.
  1. To carry out duties in the event of absence of Deputy Headteacher or Executive Headteacher if asked to do so.

3)Generic Responsibilities:

7.To liaise with outside agencies when appropriate.

8.To support the Executive Head Teacher in promoting the ethos of the service.

9.To promote the welfare of children and to support the school in safeguarding children though relevant policies and procedures.

10.To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.

11.To role model professional standards, as detailed in the staff Code of Conduct and Teacher Standards.

12.To recognise health and safety is a responsibility of every employee, to take reasonable care of self and others and to comply with the Service Health and Safety policy and any service-specific procedures / rules that apply to this role.

13.To support, promote and positively publicise the service.

14.To work collaboratively and supportively with all employees of the service.

15.To undertake other duties as directed by the Executive Headteacher, and Deputy Headteacher.
