RECEIVING A PROCLAMATION

AT THE CITY COMMISSION MEETING

  • Proclamations are presented at 5:30 p.m. at Regular City Commission Meetings;
  • Regular Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays (excluding holidays) in the City Commission Auditorium, First Floor, GainesvilleCity Hall, 200 East University Avenue;
  • City Commission Meetings are televised on Cox Channel 12;
  • Recipient/s should be in the auditorium by 5:15 p.m.;
  • When the Clerk announces the title of the proclamation, the recipient/s join the Mayor at the center of the auditorium;
  • Mayor will read and present the proclamation;
  • Recipient/s welcomed to make a short comment (2 minutes or less);
  • Recipient’s guests welcomed to attend the presentation;
  • If more than one proclamation is being presented, recipient/s should return to their seats in order that all other recipients of proclamations also receive due courtesy;
  • After all presentations have been made, those not desiring to remain at the meeting may leave the auditorium while the Mayor is returning to the dais.
