ResiDance 2016/17

ResiDance is MDI’s annual bursary to support artists based in Liverpool and the Liverpool City region, in the research and development of new dance work. In the past we have supported artists at different points of their dance career and process of working, to present work at varying stages of development including Lauren Tucker who has gone on to produce a full length piece of work touring the North, Melissa Pasut’s sited work at FACT and Elinor Randle, tmesis theatre presenting work as part of Homotopia Festival.

This years bursary will be offered to two artists based in Merseyside, through an application process, who will be awarded £500 each, 35 hours of space available in MDI Studio with Mentoring, feedback and support from the MDI team. The idea should be dance/movement based and be at the early stages of development.

Leap 2017 will be taking place in March 2017, the context of which is ‘Camouflage: Seen and Unseen’. We would like this years ResiDance applicants to consider their idea within this context, with the aim to present their work during Leap 2017. The presentation of work may be in the form of performance (part of an evening of work) or informal studio sharing alternatively it maybe as part of a discussion or lecture demonstration. This is to support the development of your work and so we can discuss how best to do this.
