Job Title: Client Researcher

Job Purpose:
Research, identify and track all young people to assess their situation and identify potential needs. Support young people to achieve positive outcomes.
Principal Accountabilities
1.  Research and identify all young people aged 13-19 countywide, prioritising groups of young people in line with organisation targets and areas of needs
2.  Responsible for co-ordinating the follow up and tracking of all young people to assess their situation and identify potential needs through letter, telephone or other identified communication methods
3.  To actively support young people to access employment, education and training and access appropriate information sources by signposting to other relevant services and encouraging them to engage with the support available
4.  To identify situations when intervention from Connexions Advisers may be necessary and provide relevant feedback
5.  Provide anonymous data for use with others on situation, current interests and perceived barriers to inform countywide service plans
6.  Maintain accurate and up to date client information and provide statistics for Central Government targets
7. Provide support to the area when necessary

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential:
·  Key Skill Level 2: 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above; NVQ Level 2; or equivalent, including: English and Maths and be ICT confident
Desirable:
·  Key Skill Level 3: 2 ‘A’ Levels (4 AS Levels), ONC, OND, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential:
·  Basic knowledge of education and training options for young people from national provision of GCSE’s; AS and A Levels to local training provision from E2E and other apprenticeships
·  Benefits entitlements for U18 including Job seekers allowance; EMA; Care to learn
·  Training opportunities to include local provision for E2E and Apprenticeships
Desirable:
·  Knowledge of 14-19 curriculum and diplomas, vocational courses
Further education provision & HE provision; including Aimhigher,
Disapplication of the curriculum and diplomas, Local training provision
·  Knowledge of local housing options, including housing partnerships; LA housing and private renting options
·  Knowledge of Employment Law relating to employment for U18’s, including minimum wage entitlements, hours of work for U18’s
·  Knowledge of the Personal Advisor role. To be able to describe how a PA can support and help young people and other resources available from Connexions e.g. Vacancy BULLETIN
Skills & Attributes
Essential:
·  To be able to communicate effectively with people in a range of situations. Using ability to alter communication style and approach depending on the audience. Approachable and receptive and utilises a wider range of communication skills
·  Able to input and analyse information on a database and use this information to produce vacancy reports
·  Able to communicate effectively and confidently with both parents and young people over the telephone; utilising effective information gathering skills as needed
·  Able to quickly develop effective and trusting relationships with both young people and parents. Seeking to secure information about current situation and offer information and advice as needed
·  Able to work autonomously and to meet deadlines. Has effective research and information gathering skills. Adaptable to change as needed
