Outdoor Pools Prepare for Busy Summer

Family Water Parks Open Weekends-Only Through June 7
Swimming Lessons Scheduled Weekends, Mornings, Evenings

Milwaukee, WI (June 3, 2015) – Cool Waters and the David F. Schulz Aquatic Center, the family water parks of the Milwaukee County Park System, will soon be adding weekdays to the 2015 summer schedule, and the other outdoor pools and wading pools will follow.

Opening weekends-only through June 7, the two water parks will go to a daily schedule beginning Monday, June 8.

Cool Waters hours will be Monday-Thursday, from 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; and Friday-Sunday (and holidays), from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., weather permitting.

Schulz Aquatic Center hours will begin with Tot Time, a session for children age 7 and under and their adult caregivers only, Monday–Friday, from 10 a.m.–noon. General swimming hours will be Monday–Thursday noon–8 p.m., and Friday–Sunday (and holidays), from noon–6 p.m., weather permitting.

Admission to the waterparks is $7.25 for visitors age 12–59 and $5.50 for those age 3–11 or 60 and up. Night swim admission, Monday–Thursday after 6 p.m., is $4.50 for all age 3 and up. Children age 7 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult. Season passes are available to individuals for $50, families of up to four members for $135, and additional children for $25 each.

Deep-Well Pools and Pelican Cove
Milwaukee County’s deep-well pools and the Pelican Cove waterpark will open Saturday, June 20, from 12:30–4:30 p.m., weather permitting. These pools are: Grobschmidt, Hales Corners, Holler, Jackson, McCarty, Pelican Cove in Kosciuszko Park, Sheridan, Washington, and Wilson.

These pools will offer evening swim, from 5:30–7:30 p.m., on a rotating schedule beginning Monday, June 22. On Mondays and Wednesdays, evening swim will be scheduled atHales Corners, Holler, Jackson, Pelican Cove, and Sheridan; on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at Grobschmidt, McCarty, Washington, and Wilson. Also on Monday and Wednesday evenings, from 5:30–6:30 p.m., will be Aqua Zumba classes at Wilson. Preregistration is not required.

Lap-swim and water-exercise will be offered at various locations.

Admission rates at the deep-well pools and Pelican Cove are the following: Age 12 & up, $3; Age 3–11, $2; general admission for evening swim, $2; and lap swim sessions or Aqua Zumba classes, $4. Children age 7 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult.

Splash Pads and Wading Pools
Splash pads and wading pools will open on a staggered schedule, beginning June 13.

Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons for non-swimmers—and those who want to become better swimmers—will be offered at four outdoor pools this summer. Sessions will be available mornings, evenings, and weekends.Children as young as six months through adults of all ages are welcomed.

The Saturday Session will meet June 20–Aug. 15 (no July 4 class), from 11 a.m.–noon. The session at Holler Park will offer instruction for beginning levels only.The session at Hales Corners, McCarty, and Wilson is designed for all levels of swimmers.Signup is Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m.–noon, at the location where the student will be attending class.

Morning Session I will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, June 29–July 22, from 11 a.m.–noon. The session at Holler Park will offer instruction for beginning levels only.The session at McCarty Park will be for all levels of swimmers.Signup for the first session is Monday, June 22, from 11 a.m.–noon, at the location where the student will be attending class. Morning Session II will begin July 27.

Evening Session I will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, June 29–July 22, from 5:30–6:30 p.m., at McCarty Park. The session is for all levels of swimmers. Signup for the session is Wednesday, June 24, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. at McCarty Park. Evening Session II will begin July 27.

Swim lessons are $40 per 8-class session. Only cash payments will be accepted.
