AIRPORT MANAGER

HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday - 20 hrs/week and attendance at Council, Committee or Budget Meetings, as requested by the Chief Administrative Officer.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
1. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Airport Manager is responsible to the Chief Administrative Officer for the management of Airport operations and staff at the Smithers Regional Airport.
2. SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
3. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead the Airport team to ensure successful development, management and operation of the Airport, including the airport terminal, groundside and airside areas.
2. Demonstrate a strong commercial focus, with emphasis on maximizing airport revenues and profits, and effective cost-control management.
3. Develop, recommend and implement the Airport’s vision, strategic objectives, annual and long-term business plans.
4. Design policies, procedures and systems to achieve safe operations, effective life cycle management, customer service and regulatory compliance.
5. Conceive and direct a marketing program to promote passenger and cargo air services.
6. Manage an ongoing program of capital investment and maintenance.
7. Build and manage strong relationships and ensure the Airport’s interests are coordinated with senior representatives of various key constituents including the business community, government and regulatory agencies, airlines, vendors, land and airside tenants, and consumer groups.
8. Attend Council meetings as required by Chief Administrative Officer.
9. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
4. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE
· A degree in business / aviation management or equivalent with several years successful management experience, preferably in the airport or airline industries.
· Solid understanding of airport operations, airport standards and recommended practices.
· Excellent leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills with proven ability to promote strong individual and team performance and solid employee morale.
· Self-motivated, and able to produce high quality results.
· Financially skilled with strong commercial focus.
