Job Title: Fundraising and Communications Operations Executive

Accountable to: Director of Development, Lewis-Manning Hospice

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising and Communications

Job Context: Lewis-Manning Hospice provides excellent palliative care to local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and their carers. We have recently opened a specialist end of life care unit for people in the Poole and Bournemouth area.

The Hospice is now embarking on an exciting new fundraising strategy, with Fundraising and Communications support and Supporter Care being a key role

Job Purpose:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Digital Marketing

1.1 Work with the Legacies and Individual Giving Manager, to develop tactical fundraising appeals using social media.

1.2 Work with the Legacies and Individual Giving Manager, to redesign and continually update our website

1.3 Co-ordinate content from across Lewis-Manning to update our website and be the voice of our social media

2. Marketing and Communications

1.1.With the Head of Fundraising and Communications, plan, develop and implement Lewis-Manning’s marketing and communications activities.

1.2.Develop the organisation’s database so that marketing and fundraising activities can be appropriately targeted and CRM plans developed.

1.3.Ensure that key, strategic messages are communicated effectively and consistently to target audiences across print and electronic media as well as in person.

1.4.Take responsibility for the creative production (or liaison with external organisations for the production) of public relations materials, fundraising materials, presentations, advertising and marketing collateral across all media channels.

1.5.Liaise with media, publications, external agencies, print and design suppliers.

1.6.Co-ordinate, develop and write literature/promotional materials to support all areas of work of the hospice.

1.7.Ensure that hospice literature is kept up to date.

1.8.Be responsible for accurate usage of the hospice logo and house style throughout the organisation.

  1. Supporter Care

2.1.To be a point of contact for members of the public responding to inbound fundraising queries.

2.2.Process all fundraising income, including logging event sponsorships and correspondence to all donors

2.3.Be responsible for the placement and retrieval of Collection Tins

2.4.Administer the LMH Friends Scheme

2.5.Provide admin support for the management of legacies

2.6.Support in the lead up to and help at LMH Fundraising events as and when required – which may include out of hours

2.7.Provide support to volunteers for collections/events

  1. Database Management
  2. Update, maintain and cleanse the database of donors, adhering to data protection guidelines throughout
  3. Produce reports on donor trends and levels of donations on a regular basis as necessary
  4. Accurately update and maintain Gift Aid records and be responsible for recovery
  5. Manage all department mail outs to donors
  6. Manage the production of reports for online donations from Just Giving and Virgin Money Giving
  1. General
  2. Other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Fundraising and Communications on either a short or long-term basis.
  3. Ensure practice is in accordance with Lewis Manning Hospice Policy at all times.

  • Demonstrable experience of at least one of the following :
  • Customer Care
  • Marketing and Communications

  • Project management
  • Working in a target and results-driven environment
  • Proven experience creating meaningful and engaging content for a range of marketing mediums.
  • Proven experience executing marketing projects and to agreed deliverables
  • Proven experience of writing online and for print purposes

  • Production of external facing literature

  • Diplomacy and sensitivity, with confidence and ability to communicate with people in all walks of life
