Step 1: Refer to the following websites to retrieve information about your ecozone:

With your partner, choose an ecozone (one of the terrestrial ecozones)

Inform Mrs. Totzke about your choice. No ecozone can be chosen more

than once.

Step 2: Gather Data

Complete the following worksheet to discover information about your

ecozone. Information will come from the website. Record all of your

information on these sheets. These will be the rough notes for

your display. Do not copy word for word!

Landforms and Climate:

a) Describe the type of landformsin your ecozone.

b) List the major lakes, rivers and oceans.

c) Is this ecozone abundant in water? Try to explain why.

d) Detail the factors that affect the climate of your ecozone. Describe the climate.

Step 3:Gathering Climate Data

1. Go to

2. Hit the English icon.

3. Hit the “Climate Data Online” option in the column on the left.

4. Select a province that is part of your ecozone in the scroll menu.

5. Select a city/station within that province and then hit the “Customized Search” Option.

6. From the “Search by Province” box, hit Search.

7. Select one of the stations that is in your ecozone, make sure the “Data Interval” is Monthly and that the year is fairly recent (Year 2000 or sooner). Once you have done this, you can then press “Go”. Make sure the station is actually within your ecozone!

8. You should now have a chart showing the “Monthly Data Report”. The information you will need to construct your climate graphs is under the “Mean Temperature” and the “Total Precipitation”. Once you have copied this information down, you can construct your climate graphs.

Step 4:Graphics

Find pictures from the internet or magazines that will correspond with your ecozone. These can be used to make your Bristol Board display more attractive.

Step 5Written Summaries

Write out summaries in complete sentences for each of the categories you have researched. Remember that this must be written in your own words! Do not use a font greater than 14 point.

Step 6Maps

Construct two maps for your bristol board display- one of your ecozone, and one showing your ecozone in relation to the rest of Canada. On the first map, you must remember to include major settlements, bodies of water, landmarks, and political boundaries.

Step 7Final Poster

On a piece of bristol board, put it all together. Remember to include the name of your ecozone and your group members’ names.
