Punctuality
This is probably one of the most important qualities of being a good waiter. Neither restaurant management nor customers appreciate late comers so it is very important to reach work earlier than the time that your shift begins.

Preparation
Imagine a customer who is ready to give an order only to be delayed by a waiter who has forgotten his ordering pad or pen – or both. This will reflect badly on the restaurant and will definitely put the customer off. Preparation before the time customers are expected to arrive is the key to good customer services.

Knowledge of Menu
Knowing the menu inside out can really impress customers. A customer may ask you what a certain menu item include in terms of ingredients or you may be asked to reflect on what a good choice of food item is for someone who doesn’t like too much spice. In either case, you should be able to suggest possible items off the top of your head.

Personal Presentation
Since waiters are the face of a restaurant, they need to be dressed properly. Unclean, wrinkled or stained uniform, visible tattoos and five o’ clock shadows can be a complete turn off for customers who want to eat good food in a clean environment. So you should be able to maintain yourself properly.

Power of Suggestion
Restaurants bank heavily on up-sales. Waiters are trained to suggest additional items to the customers such as special drinks and appetizers. Without sounding too obvious, it is important for waiters to be able to grasp opportunities to entice customers to give further orders from the menu.

Appearance:

Waiters are the face of a restaurant. So, it is of utmost necessity that they are dressed in the most appropriate attire. Cordial & Hospitable:

While interacting with the guests, an ideal server always uses docile terms for addressing such as sir, ma’am and miss with a pleasant smile on the face. The response to customer’s questions needs to be gentle, accurate and polite. Silent laughs, snickering and side table remarks might not be taken well by the guests.

Profound knowledge of menu:

The waiters who have the habit of inspecting food before serving saves everyone around from a lot of undesired drama, especially when there are special requests involved. A humble waiter always accepts and informs the guest if the orders have been messed up and apologizes for any additional delay.

Observant & attentive:

After the order is served, a good waiter always keeps checking on the table he serving, from an adequate distance respecting the guest’s personal space.Ideally, he has to be vigilant about sitting arrangement of the guests, filling up empty glasses, cleaning up some unexpected spilling on the table and be there near the table if the guests need to place some more orders after finishing a course.

Quick post meal service:

A worthy waiter will always ask whether the guest is done with dining before taking away the dishes from the table. If there is some food still left in the dish, he can courteously ask if the food was all right. The table has to be cleared promptly, but not without asking the guest. A smart waiter will ask if there is anything more he can get for them, opening the avenue for the guest to order for desserts or juices.

Tip accepting manners:

When the guests are about to leave after their meal, the waiter must never show his eagerness to receive a tip from them or even mention about it, unless asked. If they have placed the tip on the table inside the invoice folder, it is important that the waiter is patient enough not to clasp or check the amount before they leave.

Restaurants have to be highly selective when hiring their staff especially the waiters as they are in direct touch with guests. In today’s era, it is not sufficient to know how to take orders and serve food. Guest look much beyond that in terms of personalized and efficacious services from restaurants and it is majorly upon the waiter’s shoulders to meet or exceed these expectations.

Introduction

The purpose of this report is to assess the general quality of Supermac fast food restaurant and to make recommendations.

Food & Prices

The food on offer is what you would expect from a fast food restaurant such as burgers and chips, however it is surprisingly tasty. There are also a wide range of salads and sandwiches which are also rather delicious. What is more, the prices are cheap and offer great for money.

Service & Atmosphere

The service is fast and friendly. I did not have to wait more than ten minutes. The staff are well- organized and service is given with a smile. However, the atmosphere is that of a busy kitchen due to the fact that there was a lot of noise from the kitchen and there was no music being played and the lighting was very bright. For this reason, many people ate quickly and left or took their food away with them. Very few people sat down and took their time over their meal.

Conclusion

All in all, the food, service and prices at Supermac are excellent. The only thing the restaurant lacks is atmosphere. If lively background music was played and the lighting was softened/think Supermac would be improved. However, in spite of this, I recommend Supermac for people who want quick, tasty food at low prices.

Introduction

The aim of this report is to comment on the good and bad points of the new health food takeaway on Bridge Street in Upton and assess its suitability for members of the Healthy Eating Society.

Food

The health food takeaway offers a wide range of healthy dishes all made from fresh ingredients on the premises. The salads and sandwiches only contain fresh organic fruits and vegetables that have been grown locally and you will not find white bread or fizzy drinks on the menu. The food is delicious and tasty. What is more all the dishes are nutritionally balanced providing a wide range of vitamins and minerals and have a low fat content. The range of food and drinks on offer was excellent and the menu clearly states the contents of every dish.

Prices

Due to the fact that every ingredient is fresh, it is not surprising that the prices are rather expensive. However, as the quality is so high, the customer does get value for money.

Conclusion

Despite the fact that it is expensive, I think the new health food takeaway is highly suitable for members of our society as it offers a wide range of delicious, healthy dishes. I highly recommend it to members. However, I advise members to eat there only occasionally due to the high prices.

Introduction

The purpose of this report is to assess whether the school canteen facilities are meeting students' needs and to make recommendations.

Food

The canteen offers a wide range of good quality dishes to cater for different international tastes and the majority of students seem satisfied with the choke. There are some, however, who are vegetarians and who feel that there are not enough fruit and vegetable dishes on the menu.

Prices

Although the meals in the students' canteen are very reasonable, a small number of students have said that they cannot afford to eat there on a daily basis.

Service

Students seem to agree that the staff are generally efficient and polite. The service, however, can be a little slow at times if any members of staff are absent for any period of time.

Recommendation

All in all, despite a few minor problems, the canteen certainly provides excellent value for the standard of food that is served. I would, however, recommend that we add more vegetarian choices to the menu.
