Location: Rosebery House, Edinburgh

Contract: Part time (3 days), 7 month fixed term

Salary scale: £23,700 - £26,250 pro-rata per annum

Job purpose

The 2018 Project Co-ordinator will work with Children in Scotland, the Scottish Youth Parliament and Young Scot to support the engagement of young people and stakeholders in the development of a vision for the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People in 2018. The Co-ordinator will be supported by a range of staff across the partner organisations to deliver the work.

Key responsibilities

1. The Year of Young People Interim Planning Group

An essential part of the role will be supporting and developing the Year of Young People Interim Planning Group. The children and young people involved in the group will shape the engagement process including the format and delivery of the YOYP engagement events. They will analyse feedback from the engagement activity and provide recommendations to the Scottish Government for planning the Year of Young People.

In delivering this element of the role, responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

- / Working with colleagues in the three partner organisations to recruit children and young people.
- / Supporting the Children and Young People’s Interim Planning Group to deliver their objectives.
- / Facilitating meetings of the CYP planning group.
- / Collating information and presenting in age accessible ways.
- / Analysing feedback and report to the Young People’s Interim Planning Group to help them develop their recommendations.

2. The Year of Young People engagement strategy

The Year of Young People engagement strategy will have a number of key elements, including 3 regional events and 1 national event. Responsibilities relating to this element of the role will include, but will not be limited to:

- / Co-ordinating three regional Discussion Days in the autumn, exploring with young people and stakeholders what they would like the Year to look like and to identify key themes.
- / Co-ordinating a major national event at the end of 2015 to involve key stakeholders in the process.
- / Working with colleagues in the partner organisations to ensure all logistical elements of the events are delivered in line with the strategic vision.
- / Using online tools to gather additional feedback from young people about the Year, and to map stakeholders’ existing activities and plans for 2018 as well as their aspirations.
- / Carrying out monitoring, evaluation and reporting as required.
- / Using a variety of channels available across the partnership, leading on communications around Year of Young People engagement, particularly using social media to engage children and young people and to increase awareness of 2018 Year of Young People.
- / Leading on the collation of the end of project reporting to Scottish Government.
