Teaching Expectations #1

Lesson Plan

Expectation: Follow all bus driver directives and rules

Definition
Abiding by all rules and regulations as given by bus drivers in order to sustain a safe driving and riding environment.
Rationale for having the Expectation
Every day, school buses travel through congested traffic and on busy roads in all types of weather, transporting students to and from school and/or school related activities. A school bus is like a classroom, just as the teacher is in charge of the classroom, the bus driver is in charge of the bus. Safely transporting students requires appropriate student behavior.
Positive Examples: “Looks Like” / Non-examples
Sitting in seat while bus is in motion / Standing or walking while the bus is in motion
Hands inside the bus at all times / Extending hands and arms out the window
Using quiet voices when speaking / Yelling when speaking
Following directions the first time given / Not following bus driver’s directions
