Health Statistics Manager

Non Civil Service Position

The Baltimore City Health Department’s Office of Chronic Disease is seeking a versatile individual to serve as Health Statistics Managerfor the Healthy Homes Lead and Asthma Programs.

The Health Statistics Manager will assist with program evaluation and data analysis for the Healthy Homes Programand assist in initiatives to improve the quality of programs and data systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn quickly on-the-job. A background in quantitative methods or epidemiology is essential and knowledge of statistical software such as STATA or SPSS is preferred. Knowledge of the social sciences (public health, public policy, economics, psychology, sociology, etc.) is helpful.Experience with web sites or designing educational materials a plus.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Analyze health data and report on performance indicators
  • Develop educational materials
  • Assist in the development of a new data system by coordinating communications between the Officeand a computer programming team
  • Assist in report and grant-writing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field and two years of experience in epidemiology or a related area
  • Comfort with Microsoft Word and Excel are a must. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Microsoft Access, STATA, SPSS, or SAS.

  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

Salary: $48,000-$50,000 annual
