Will start with a song to open the evening. How will the passports work? Will have to check with Tasha to see.

Will this become an annual event?

Parents complimented us on how we took an idea that was mentioned and made it happen. Children seem excited.

8:15 Magnet Schools of America Award- we won School of Excellence this year and the award will be given to us at the end of April. We are very proud of this achievement. We were the only Montessori school in the district to be awarded this honor this year. Chantilly received the School of Distinction award.

8:20 Transition Meeting for parents will take place May 11th after Muffins with Mom

This meeting consists of a panel of teachers (one from each level) who meet with parents to discuss what happens at each level and how we build on things each year and parents can ask questions.

8:21 School Safety

We had our 2nd lockdown drill last week. We scored 100% on our audit. We practice these drills to make sure that the children are safe, they know what to do and that the children are not afraid when this happens.

Policy on door holding has changed. We have asked that no one hold the door open for anyone. Everyone needs to be buzzed in by the office so we know who is entering in the building. Sign is posted on doors.

School walk out. Parents contacted Dr. Patricia and we decided as a school not to participate as we did not want our children outside for safety reasons. In addition, we did not feel that it was our responsibility to share the information with the younger children if the parents had not shared.

8:29

Nicole Argento has come and gotten the soil ready for planting in the garden beds by the mobile unit. She also has donated around 12 plants and will donate more as the weather gets a little warmer.

Primary playground finally got mulch this past week.

A parent asked about how the butterfly trail got started. Our 20th anniversary was last year and the trail and butterfly highway were ideas that were a part of our celebration. We also buried a time capsule. Neighbors have donated to the gofundme page.

Ms. Monica is pursuing her own business and her last day was March 9th. Ms. Kat has been promoted to Financial Secretary. She will be back from maternity leave on March 19th. Dr. Patricia will be interviewing for a replacement. The sub secretary will stay on until a replacement is hired.

ILT (Instructional Leadership Team) is a group of administrators and 2 teachers that meet once a month with all the other schools. It is a literacy initiative. We started with close reading and are now working on writing. Gives them time to reflect on what is working well, what we need to work on, and where we are going next with professional development. We work with the other Montessori schools during these meetings.

May 11th is also the night of the Charlotte Knights baseball game with Ms. Cheryl
