Show Me Stock Dog League

March 25, 2010

On Saturday, Feb. 20, the planned Workshop actually happened. If this sounds surprising, it is!! The League has had its scheduling challenges this year. We’re off and running now…. with the successful event held at Bob Salmon’s. Bob provided everyone with a demanding course for the open dogs. The best part being, as a workshop, we could step up to help the dogs if we needed to. It’s great to have win-win opportunity to run our dogs after the long, cold winter that prevented most of us the chance to work our dogs.

The field and sheep were equally good for the pro-novice dogs and ranch dogs, and there was time later in the day for handlers to work their young dogs. There were a total of 23 dogs worked. Thanks to Dale Lewis for judging and giving comments to each handler after their work. There were several spectators who came to watch and joined us at lunch to visit and get acquainted. Speaking of lunch; we had “all you can eat chili” with many tasty potluck side dishes and desserts. It was delicious.

Travis Crane called the meeting to order so the audit committee report for 2009, could be could be approved by the members.

He presented the awards for 2009 as well.
