Trash and Recycling
Republic Services (317-917-7300) is our current contractor. They provide two (2) blue
95 gallon cart for trash and one green 96 gallon carts per residence. The cart with the yellow lid is for recycling only. Trash collection is scheduled once a week. Heavy trash and recycling are scheduled once a month on your first regular collection day of the month. Your regular trash collection day will not change. Rates for trash and recycling pick up are as follows:

Trash that does not fit inside your cart should be bagged, stickered and placed beside your container. Stickers are sold at Town Hall for $0.75 each. If you regularly have excess trash, additional trash carts may be rented for $2 per month or $6 per quarter. Call 317-917-7300 to rent an extra trash cart.
Trash Guidelines
Not Acceptable for Trash:
· Dirt, sod, rocks, or paving stones
· Heavy construction debris such as shingles, brick, or concrete
· Hot ashes, coals, solvents, or flammable materials
· Liquids including paint
· Hazardous wastes such as oils, poisons, corrosives, batteries, etc.
· Heavy items, including carpet, furniture or auto parts
· Electronics and E-waste
· Lawn mowers with gasoline
Automated Service Guidelines
- Place carts curbside by 7 a.m.
- Face the cart toward the street (wheels away from the street).
- Position the cart within two (2) feet of the curb.
- Avoid placing the cart near parked cars, mailboxes or other objects.
Containers are property of Republic Services and contain a serial number that coincides with your residence. DO NOT remove carts. If you plan to move or if your cart is damaged, call Republic Services. Personal trash carts may be used to contain debris on heavy trash day only. 95 gallon trash and recycling carts should be used on all other day.
Recycling Guidelines
Recycle:
· Newspapers, inserts & junk mail
· Magazines, catalogs & envelopes
· Paperback books & phone books
· Cardboard & clean pizza boxes
· Office & school papers, box board (cereal, cake & cracker boxes)
· Paper egg cartons
· Aluminum cans & clean foil
· Tin & steel aerosol cans (empty)
· Glass jars & bottles (empty)
· All plastic containers labeled 1 through 7
Be green – Please remember all containers should be empty and clean. All of the items listed can be mixed together and placed in your recycling cart – No sorting needed!
Do NOT Recycle:
· Plastic bags
· Feed waste
· Food tainted items
· Polystyrene cups or plates
· Motor oil bottles
· Plastic toys or sporting goods
· Electronics
· Compact discs or DVDs
· Foam egg cartons
· Ice cream cartons
· Light bulbs
· Hangers
· Yard waste or garden tools
Please Do NOT place these items in the recycle cart. Instead, utilize your trash cart for these items.
Heavy Trash Collection Guidelines
Trash collection service shall include monthly “heavy” trash pick-up on the first pickup of each month. Additional heavy trash items require advanced 48 hour notice to Republic Services with a $15 pre-paid charge per item. All recyclables will also be picked up on the first pick-up of the month.
Appliances: Household appliances that do not contain CFC or Freon may be sent out on your heavy trash day. Appliances that contain CFC or Freon cannot be legally disposed of by Republic Services unless (1) the substance has been removed by a licensed professional and (2) the certificate of removal is attached to the appliance.
Limbs & Shrubbery: Limbs and shrubbery should be cut, bundled and set out on your designated heavy trash day. Bundles should not exceed 4 feet long and 75 pounds.
Furniture & Rolled Carpet: These items will only be picked up on heavy trash day, and must fit in the 5 ft. x 4 ft. x 4 ft. compartment on the back of the truck.
Not Acceptable for Heavy Trash: Shingles, concrete, metal bars/rods or similar construction materials. Lighter material from small home project (such as commode, sinks or doors) can be accepted as long as they do not exceed size limitations. Construction dumpsters can be rented for larger projects by calling Republic Services at 317-917-7300.
No E-waste: Indiana law prohibits the disposal of E-waste items at any landfill or by incineration. E-waste includes electronic devices, such as computers, computer monitors, printers, televisions, IPods, fax machines, DVD players and video recorders. Cell phones and calculators are not included. Additional Information:
Holiday schedule – The following holidays will impact your collections in 2016. New Year’s Day, January 1st is on Friday. Your collection day for trash and recycling will be delayed one day this week to Saturday. Thanksgiving Day, November 24 is on Thursday. Wednesday this week will be a regular collection day. Thursday and Friday collections will be delayed one day. All other holiday weeks for 2016 collections will be on the regular schedule.
