Merry Christmas!!

So sorry members that it has been October since our last newsletter but as you will read things have been extremely hectic. A Big thanks must go to Gina Byard who has been sending out multitudes of emails to help keep everyone informed. Okay, lets bring ourselves up to date.

October!! What were we thinking!! We hosted the Inaugural Northern Zone Dressage Championship, our Frank Richards Memorial Gymkhana and the 2008 Polocrosse Chukka Championships. On top of that we had riders compete in the Royal Launceston Show, kicked off organisation of the 2009 Bullride and pulled together a very successful trail ride rally. Are we not the club with the mostest!! Much thanks must go to our new committee who are showing fantastic potential for a committee getting their heads around new positions and whilst pulling together fantastic events.

November less hectic but no less exciting saw two of our wonderful riders heading off to skill up at the Tom Johnson Clinic and Kim Taylor, our Assistant DC taking up the role of District Commissioner for DDPC. Sadly, as most would be aware we said goodbye to Ange in her role as DC.

December saw the kicking off of the eventing season with the Tas ODE at Powrana. DDPC were represented by fantastic contingent of riders competing in most grades.

December Events
7th / TRPC – One Day Event
14th / WTPC – One Day Event
20th / LDPC – Show Jumping Qualifier Day
21st / DDPC Christmas Rally

Birthdays are running wildly untamed in Nov and Dec.

Happy Birthday to Shania W, George C, Emma J, Erin R, Emma T, Hannah O & Michaela VR we hope you have a fantastic birthday with lots of fun and nice pressies!!!

Tom Johnson Clinic

The Tom Johnson Clinic is a two day camp that concentrates on skills needed for eventing. Each year members from each club are invited by the club DC to attend the camp. This year the lucky nominees were Jessica Cowan and Portia Conway-Whatley. Jess and Portia attended the camp in November and had lots of fun and good learning opportunities. Well done girls.

Another really successful day for DDPC was the Frank Richards Memorial Gymkhana. We had over 50 riders, which was fantastic for this time of year and given the dodgy weather forecast.

The DDPC again won the shield for the highest

points. So thank you to all the riders who

participated and helped us with the points. It was

great to see so many smiling faces and

younger/new riders having a go at something new.

Congratulations to Michaela Van Rooye who was the highest point score for the DDPC and the Highest Points score for the day.

Also congratulations to Emma Dolan for runner up high score DDPC rider and runner up highest point score for the day.

Much thanks must go to the sub-committee responsible for organising the event which consisted of Ange, Jane, Narelle, Kylie, Gina and Kim.

Further thanks to all those who volunteered their time to bring the event together.

Fund Raising Chocolates

For those who have yet to collect their chocolates to sell on behalf of the club. They are available to collect at the club rooms each rally.

DDPC Annual Camp

We are approaching the time for our annual camp. All riders who are intending to attend camp are required to complete camp forms. Forms are available on our web site and with this newsletter. It is important that forms are submitted as early as possible as the forms provide organisers with the necessary information to adequately plan rosters, meals, instructors and events. It is important to get these forms to Gina or Kim as soon as possible.

As many of you are aware DDPC again hosted the annual Polocrosse Chukka Championships on 25th October. Deloraine entered two teams consisting of Danielle, Hannah, Laura, Michaela, Sophie O & Liv. Our teams took out 2nd place and 3rd place and the shield went to WTPC. Well done to Sophie who was one of the youngest riders in the competition.

A big thank you AGAIN to the fabulous Sue Walton who trained our polocrosse team and organised this event. Sue is a fabulous asset to our club as she continues to selflessly volunteer her wealth of knowledge and time to our riders.

XC Elimination Rule Effective immediately

For all riders who are intending compete in Cross Country please be advised that effective immediately and for safety reasons, the PCAT will be adopting the following EFA Rule.

FALL OF RIDER AT ANY OBSTACLE DURING THE CROSS COUNTRY PHASE WILL RESULT IN ELMINATION.

Many of our riders competed at the Royal Launceston Show for both their pony club and their schools. Riders representing DDPC included Brittany, Liv, Erin, Stacy, Sophie, Han, Teagan B & Danielle. Some of the highlights included

Class 1 –85cm – Erin 2nd place, Danielle 4th.

Class 2 – 85cm Michaela 2nd Place

Class 3 – 105cm Stacy 1st Place

Our members Stacy Plumbridge and Brittany Kirkman were both part of a three rider team who took home the Bae Lyne Shield for Deloraine High School.

What amazing talent we have in our club at this present time. It was equally enjoyable to see our members socialising with other pony club members in a friendly and supportive manner. Great sports skills!!

EVENT ENTRIES

Please remember that if you intend on riding at an event It is your responsibility to get your entries & monies to the Secretary. Do not leave it to the last minute as you may miss out. It is very difficult to make phone calls with late entries or changes to other DC’s, as they are all busy too. All entries must be forwarded to Gina who will collate and inform Kim. Kim will decide if the entry is in accordance with the riders grading.

Boys Group

There has been some interest in establishing a boys group at the pony club. If you are interested in this idea please have a chat with Jane.

If we were to establish a boys group that would ride together at each rallies – there would need to be a commitment from these riders to attending the rallies.

Are You Coming to the Rally?

It is important that each rider who intends to come to the rallies notify Jane Becker of their attendance prior to the rally. On rally days it is very difficult to organise groups and instructors when people do not turn up or simply turn up without notifying anyone. As such, riders who have not notified of their attendance will be allocated to the group with the smallest number of riders. So please your assistance in this will make life so much easier for rally planners and will ensure that you receive the maximum benefit from your rallies.

A big thank you to Jodie Van Rooye who did such a fantastic job in the canteen at both the Frank Richards Gymkhana and the Northern Zone Dressage Championship. A fantastically successful and well ran canteen.

Xmas Rally

In December DDPC holds a Xmas rally. This rally is run a little differently – we have a BBQ but families are asked to bring along a salad or a dessert. Lunch is a shared meal.

In previous years Santa has blessed us with a visit and has given pressies. (Parents/Guardians – this is you)

PCAT Northern Zone Dressage

Deloraine One Day Event

Our ODE is due to be held on 4th Jan. This is a solid fundraiser for our club and as such it’s a case of all hands on deck again. This year we are asking all members to look after 1 jump on the cross country course. Over the next 2 month we would like you to check out your jump, cleanup, mow, repair (with help of course) etc around your jump and in the immediate vicinity of your jump. If this type of work is done prior to the event on January 4th it will make flagging the XC a lot quicker and easier. Many members are opting to bring along their whipper snippers, mowers ect to the Xmas rally and do the deed then.

For those who don't know where the jumps are or what to do please speak to either Sally Cowan or Sue Walton at the rally.

We need lots of help to get to ODE raring to go, so please don’t be shy about coming forward to help. There will also be working bees in the week before and day before the event so it will be all hands on deck, whether you are riding or not.
