Job Title: Development Manager

Reports to: Head of FMC (Fundraising, Marketing & Communications)

Responsible for: 9 x Regional Officers (FMC)

Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

Salary: Circa. £32,000

ROLE PURPOSE

Following an amazing 150th anniversary year in 2010, we have created a new role to help RABI meet its mission and vision for the future and develop our work into the next stage of our history. Based in Oxford and reporting to Head of FMC the Development Manager is responsible for the hands on management of nine9 regional officers to support income generation and raising awareness throughout England and Wales. Responsibilities include:

·  Guiding the hardworking and dedicated regional team to develop RABI’s national income generation and awareness raising aims.

·  Furthering the implementation of the national plan to ensure that RABI is known and understood by organisations that can refer cases to us, in order to reach as many people as possible who need our support, ie social services, other charities, health professionals.

·  Supporting the regional team with the management and development of RABI’s 52 voluntary county committees to ensure the success of this important income stream.

KEY TASKS / ACCOUNTABILITY

Fundraising

Working with the head of FMC and the team of regional officers, to develop and manage the fundraising strategy in order to increase funds from RABI’s income streams including:

Corporates & other organisations:

·  Act as liaison between national groups – corporates, industry bodies etc to ensure that regional officers are informed and resourced to develop strong relationships with their regional counterparts.

·  Develop a portfolio of corporate fundraising products for donations, for example sponsorship, employee involvement, Gifts in Kind and Charity of the Year.

·  Liaise with Regional Officers and Head of FMC to ensure that opportunities are maximised and duplication is avoided.

·  Carry out all necessary account management requirements.

·  Attend networking events to develop further support.

·  Build sustainable relationships with donors and funders and ensure effective tracking of communications.

Campaigns

·  Working with the head office team, maximise the regional potential of RABI’s campaigns including Welly Week, Farmhouse Breakfast Week and propose new initiatives to keep the programme fresh.

County committees

·  Support regional officers in their management and recruitment of our county volunteers to ensure the continued success of committee structure.

·  Liaise with regional officers to produce recommendations and short list for county committee national awards.

·  Take over the management of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire county committees to include:

Ø  Encouraging and supporting the two existing voluntary county groups and recruiting new members where necessary.

Ø  Working in conjunction with other agencies and farming related organisations to raise awareness of the work of RABI to both our supporters and those who may need assistance.

Ø  Attending county shows and events.

Ø  Providing appropriate articles for inclusion in RABI’s quarterly newsletter

Ø  Identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities in Oxon and Bucks

Awareness

·  Further our aim of helping all those in the farming community who are suffering hardship by ensuring that RABI is known and understood by a diverse range of organisations that come into contact with people in need.

·  Support regional staff in targeting relevant organisations.

Staff management

·  Manage and develop the potential of nine regional officers including the annual appraisal process.

·  Guide the delivery of individual and team objectives to ensure both strategic and development goals are met.

·  Inspire others by advocating plans and ideas within and outside of RABI.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

·  Significant and demonstrable personal experience of voluntary income generation.

·  A strong leader with the skills to motivate a team to achieve objectives and implement strategies.

·  Experience of line management and supporting the learning and development of individuals.

·  Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills.

·  Experience of public speaking.

·  Good time management skills with experience of managing multiple projects at the same time.

·  Ease in building and maintaining good positive working relationships with colleagues and the ability to confidently operate at senior levels externally.

·  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

·  Open and flexible attitude and ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends and willingness to travel within the UK.

·  Good IT skills.

Desirable

·  Knowledge/experience in the agricultural industry.

·  Experience of using new media to fundraise and communicate, eg, Facebook and Twitter.
