TEACHING PLAN –Cockroaches, Allergies, And Asthma

ABSTRACT

This activity can be a culmination of either the Reading Research Papers learning cycle or the Critical Readingunitof the Ambient Air Module. In it the students build upon the knowledge developed during the reading activities. Students are asked to share what they learned in a poster format.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Describe the lessons -Reading Research PapersandCritical Reading
  2. Discuss how this process could be used as a demonstration of learning or could be used as a way to place student work in a museum, science center, or other public venue.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE LESSON

Student Learning Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Answer the questions posed in the lesson with well written content
  • Create posters to publicly communicate research advances related to Asthma addressing a specific audience.

Time Line

This lesson is designed to take about two days of high school classes, after the material has been read.

Activitiesof The Lesson

  1. Compile answers to the questions
  2. Formulate concepts to be shared on the poster – based on the audience of the poster
  3. Locate graphics and images to be used on the poster
  4. Create the poster
